Display the browsing history of multiple browsers with BrowsingHistoryView for Windows

Want to look up a web page again that you visited in the past week but can't remember the web browser that you used to access it? I have all major web browsers and a few minor browsers installed at all times which sometimes makes it difficulty to remember which browser I used to visit a particular site or service.

BrowsingHistoryView, Nir Sofer's newest program for Windows displays multiple browsing histories in its interface. The program at the time of writing supports the following web browsers and versions:

• Microsoft Internet Explorer from version 4.0 on
• Mozilla Firefox from version 3.0 on
• Google Chrome
• Safari

When you run the program you are presented with a configuration window which you can use to select the web browsers that you want to include in the listing. The program by default loads the history for all users of the operating system for the last ten days. You can change those preferences comfortably here. As far as data and time goes, you can select to displays all history items, or by selecting a start and end date and time. And instead of displaying the browsing history from all users, you can switch that to the current user instead or selected local users.

Once you have made the selection you see a list of all web addresses and pages that you have accessed in the browser. This includes both local and remote pages. The browser icon, url, title of the web page if available, visit time, visit count and user profile are displayed in the program window in a table. A click on a table header sorts the data accordingly.

The application supports the usual set of features that Nir Sofer adds to his programs. This includes options to generate HTML report, save selected items as files to the local system or Clipboard, or print the files. What you can't do however is load the selected page in the browser of choice again.

As far as web browser support is concerned, it is limited to the four browsers and their versions listed above. The program at the time of writing is not supporting portable browser versions, as you can't modify the paths pointing to the web browser profile directories on the local system.

It is likely that support will be added in a future version of the program. As of right now, it can still prove to be useful for Windows users who are only using installed copies of supported browsers.
