List Of Internet Explorer 9 RC Changes

If you have followed the news you know that Microsoft did release the release candidate of Internet Explorer 9 a few days ago. You may have also heard of some of the new features of the release candidate. Both Tracking Protection and ActiveX Filtering have without doubt received the most media attention.

But did you know that there have been additional changes, many under the hood? Microsoft has released a cheat sheet of additions to IE9 between Beta and RC which lists the two mentioned features and a few dozen more.

Want some examples? How about a reduction of the InPrivate Filtering memory footprint by 5MB, network cache improvements, delayed image decoding for larger files or the option to press Ctrl-Shift-L to load a website from the clipboard right away in the browser.

Here is a video that showcases five highlights of the RC. The option to launch multiple websites at once from one pinned tab is pretty neat.

The official Internet Explorer blog offers more details on the changed in the Internet Explorer 9 RC announcement post.

Have you had time to test IE9 yet? If so, what is your first impression of the browser?

I like how the last “plus” is more space, but that’s only if the browsers aren’t maximized. I never use a browser without having it maximized, so if you compare that, IE9 wastes the entire title bar. I wouldn’t mind it if there was an icon or text, but just to leave it blank really make it stand out as wasted space.

      Exactly, I’m the same.

That is the FIRST thing I noticed when I installed it, a whole extra line of unused space, PLUS, My Lastpass Extension used a WHOLE bar. At first I though I messed up the Install some how and it was still the Beta. They REALLY need to fix that if they want a chance of getting me to use IE9.
