Collage It Review And Giveaway

Photo collages are a great way to express yourself, or to create a wonderful personalized gift for a loved one or close friend. Collage It, which is available in a free limited version and a commercial version, offers to create photo collages in three easy steps.

Photos are added in the first step. The application supports the popular image formats jpg, png, gif, bmp and tga. Single or multiple photos can be added easily with a click on the Add button or the selection of File > Add Files. The photos are then processed and displayed as thumbnails in the left sidebar.

A click on Generate Layout creates a sample photo collage from the photos that have been loaded by the user. It is possible to customize the layout after they have been loaded. Available for selection are options to use a limited amount of photos, configure the space and margin, rotate photos and increase the amount of spare space.

The Photo tab offers to remove and configure photo frames and shadows.

Backgrounds can be configured with a click on the background button at the bottom of the screen. Here it is possible to use a gradient, solid fill or an individual image.

The page setup button offers options to change the collage size. Available for selection are A4, A3, A2, A1, desktop wallpaper size, scrapbook, greeting card or custom size.

Layouts can be saved and loaded. That’s handy if you have created a specific layout that you want to use again in the future.

A click on the Save button saves the custom photo collage as an image to the local hard drive so that it is easy to send it via email, upload it to an image hosting site or social networking site or print it.

Collage It is an easy to use photo collage creator that users of all experience levels can use to create photo collages with. The main weakness of the application is the missing ability to move the photos around individually on the page. Additional layouts, like a photo collage that looks like a heart, would have been great as well.

Collage It is available for Windows and Macintosh. The developers have given me 20 license keys that I’d like to give away. Just leave a comment and let me know what you’d like to make a collage of for the chance to win one of the licenses.

  28. Jojo says:

Seems like a very limited implementation. For instance, a collage program needs ot be able to rotate and partially overlay photo’s.

Here’s a free opensource collage program that is much more robust:
