When you are running high-end applications like games that benefit from every bit of extra computing power and memory they can get you may want to reduce the background processes and services to a minimum so that additional resources become available.
Quite a few PC boosting applications have been released in the recent past, among them Game Booster, GMA Gaming Accelerator or IOBit Game Booster which all use the same concept that GBoost uses as well.
GBoost promises to “temporarily strip down your slowing PC to its bare essentials for gaming”. While gaming is mentioned it may also benefit other resource heavy applications. Performance increases can mostly be seen in the following two scenarios:
- Users on low end systems can benefit from the software as it frees up ram and cpu cycles for the game or application.
- Users who run a lot of “stuff” in the background, from Instant Messengers to music players, Bittorrent clients and backup software.
Users won’t see much of a difference on PCs with enough ram and power to run the game fine.

A click on the red button in the middle of the interface runs the optimization (which is temporary). The program will perform various operations, from killing processes and services to terminating open applications. Experienced users should check the advanced mode option to see what the program closes on run. Among the programs are instant messengers, music players, internet browsers and download apps. It is possible to use a slider next to each listing to either add it to the list of apps that are closed on optimization or to the list of save applications. If you want to listen to music you for instance need to set the music players slider to no to block their termination.
Is it working? That depends largely on the PC, how it is used and what program the user wants to run. It is definitely worth a try. PC users can download the Windows software from the GBoost homepage.

Note that Game Booster and Iobit Game Booster are the same software. Only the version differs.
I’m kinda sick of those software with “gamer” gui.
Who’s gonna do one in cli ? Need it for other purposes..

SmartClose is the daddy of this type of programs http://www.ghacks.net/2008/12/03/smart-close/ Started in 2005 and it does make use of ini-file with exceptions and have commmand-line support. Supplement with Taskkill command perhaps. Or CloseAll http://www.ntwind.com/software/utilities/close-all.html You can automate safely but it might require more than just click, click, like knowing how services, processes work and interact.
Idea with “game” GUI is to attract those who do not want to bother with this at all ;)
Nur GameBooster or Smart Daddy close has many Processes and Services against GBoost.
GBoost is not just a free app, its a free service. GBoost hooks up to GBoosts Central of a high experienced Team decides which Processes and Services can be shut down.
This Data is updated daily so that you can get the Maximum Boost possible at the time. With GBoost Central identifying over 6000+ of Processes and Services and growing rapidly, there is no wonder Gamers and General PC users are getting better results.
So has you can guess, the more people use it, the better the performance for all .
With the Patent software, I don’t see how anything else can compete!
Watch this Young Gamer use GBoost against GameBooster 2.

Happy fragging and enjoy. ( for Free )

GBoost Team .
I probably would avoid claiming triple fps and get used to the fact also moderators and admins have messed up computers ;) – apparently also no understanding for how to fix obvious problematic setups. You forgot to say that most programs, most services do not have any impact on gaming experience or fps. Most people who can set up Windows, programs, games do not have these problems or they quickly notice and work around them. For insight in computer/Windows, what is installed and how it works Gboost is a bad solution.
DK,
There are many processes and services that are not needed when Gaming fact. Some of these have connections to the internet too.
Lets put this to you a different way, is there any need for me to carry 40 bags of sand in the boot of my car every time I go to the race track ! ?
GBoost, temporarily closes these processes and services ( or in your case, removes the bags of sand ) to enable Gamers to have the best chance of winning! if its a increase in FPS or even a decrease in internet interruptions games run smoother, without the need to run 40 + processes and services in the background.
Why does your CPU need to Process them if they are not needed? ?
Not all users will get x3 FPS granted, I think we all know that. But from one click of a button you can temporarily close them and restore them at your leisure. Not all users have the knowledge to do such thing, and even the most experienced users would not be able to close them in the time frame it takes to press a big red boost button!
Its a Free application and helping Gamers all over the world. Especially the ones where there OS has got very bloated over the years.
Thanks for you opinion

PS It’s not just MajorGeeks.com who have seen a great increase in FPS, have a read around.
Ahh wicked, i’ve been wondering if there is a utility tool such as this to improve pc performance whilst using a lot of memory on your system – i’m guessing it’s not just with gaming this can help but just heavy useage of memory hogging resources this tool should come in useful?
will check it out :)
