Regular readers might have already spotted a new feature that I have just enabled. The comment form now lists a Twitter ID field next to the standard username, website and email fields that existed before.
Ghacks commenters who add their Twitter username to the Twitter ID field in the comment form will have their comment linked to their Twitter profile automatically. This is an excellent opportunity to attract followers, even more so if the comment was of high value.

The comment output differs now depending on the fields that are filled out by the commenter. All remains the same if no Twitter ID is entered into the form. Filling out the Twitter ID will add it as an extra field to the comment on Ghacks, linking directly to the Twitter profile of the commenter.
I have also repositioned the subscribe to comments checkbox. The box is now accessible via keyboard tab just like any other comment form field on the page. The request to add this feature dated back a few years and I’m happy to have finally added it to the site.
What’s your take on the new Twitter ID comment field? Let us know in the comments. Next up on the agenda is a redesign of the comment output on the site, it looks kinda messy at the moment.
WordPress blog owners who like to add the same functionality can do so by installing the TwitterLink Comments WordPress plugin. The custom layout requires some fiddling, if you need help let me know as well.

That’s a caching issue. You do not have the permissions, it is just showing a cached page.
Martin needs to be careful…
Now I have to spend five minutes to remove all Twitter crap out of this website. Thank god for FoxReplace extension.
Well there won’t be much that you have to replace. Twitter is only placed in the same line that the username of the commenter is shown. Don’t think it will distract or irritate anyone.
Ghacks get a Facebook page, it’s easy. Plus, I hate twitter.
You mean like a Facebook Fan page?
Its prorably good idea.
I also follow you in twitter :)
Yes, like a Facebook fan page.
