Opera 10.53 Download

The Opera development team has just released Opera 10.53 for Windows and Macintosh in response to a reported crash that might have been a security vulnerability as well. The release candidate of the new version of Opera was already available yesterday and there do not seem to be any additional changes in the final release.

Opera 10.53 fixes three issues in total of which one is the reported security vulnerability. The two remaining fix a freeze of the web browser on Google Maps and and change the way the dialog.ini file is located and loaded in Opera.

Opera 10.53 is currently not available on the main Opera website nor by using the web browser’s update checker. The only way to grab it right away is to head over to the Opera ftp and download it from there.

An announcement of the update is expected to hit the Opera website within the next hours. This will also be the time when the update check in the web browser will pick up the new version so that it can be downloaded and installed directly. (via Caschy)

Responses so far:

  1. Opera 10 maintains the program’s tradition of striving to be the fastest, smallest, and most full-featured browser available. In this latest iteration, Opera replaced its JavaScript engine, remade the interface for Windows 7, and developed features have solidified the company’s position as an innovator.

  2. Crodol says:

    In the ftp directory
    http://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1053/en/
    there are 2 files:
    Opera_1053_classic_Setup.exe 29-Apr-2010 11:45 9.6M
    Opera_1053_en_Setup.exe 29-Apr-2010 11:45 9.9M

    What is the difference?

    • Martin says:

Classic installer uses WISE installer. It is the best if you use only English, its a smaller download and you can install it without administrator privileges.

English (US) is a MSI package. It better supports network installations & integrates Opera more with Windows, to better support Windows install, uninstall and upgrade.

send me opera 10.53 latest version

  4. Don’t know any. After spending twenty minutes trying to restore the defaults to my preferred (Chrome) browser. I finally uninstalled it.

Cons: It totally took over as the default program for many of at least 9 different file types without asking for permission

  5. Ultra fast (loading, browsing, shortcuts) and productive (mail, chat, rss, bookmarks sync, etc).

  6. Cons: It totally took over as the default program for many of at least 9 different file types without asking for permission

    • Have you really installed Opera 10.53 just recently? The latest version is Opera 11.10 and I doubt that it takes over that many file types unless you select it to be your default web browser.
