A recent security software trend seems to be to offer multiple editions of a program that differ in functionality in price. If you look at companies like Microsoft, Symantec or Kaspersky you notice that they all offer different editions of their programs.
Security software in particular is offering two, three or sometimes even more different versions of their products to their customers. There is usually a basic edition, an advanced edition and a complete edition.
Kaspersky Internet Security was until recently the flagship product of Kaspersky with Kaspersky Antivirus being the basic software program. Kaspersky now has released Kaspersky Pure which adds features on top of the Internet security product.
Kaspersky Pure has the following additional features (or improves already existing ones):
- Identity Protection
- Advanced Parental Control and monitoring of user’s Internet access, PC and application use and communications
- PC tune-up
- Password Manager can create, encrypt and store logins, auto-complete forms and has an inbuilt virtual keyboard
- File Shredder uses multi-pass technology to make deleted data unrestorable, even with sophisticated software
- Data Backup & Restore assures your data’s integrity. Set schedules, restore points and select backup media
- Data Encryption maximizes security. Create, store and transfer data in password-protected, encrypted containers
- Single-point protection management for other computers in home network

Many of the tools that are added to security applications like Kaspersky Pure are also available as free third party applications. Including those features on the other hand can be beneficial for users who have not heard of those before. It could also be interesting from a security point of view considering that all the tools are created by the same developer and not multiple ones.

Computer users who want to try out Kaspersky Pure can download a 30-day trial version at the official Kaspersky website. Additional information about the security software are provided on the Pure profile page.
Is the program worth the $79.95? It depends on multiple factors. Computer users who want one program for all security, privacy and recovery purposes might say yes while users who believe in free software will likely say no.

Will the password manager and the data encryption module will make encrypted files that are compatible with other software like Keepass and Truecrypt ?
You don’t want to be stuck with Kaspersky because of your encrypted files, do you ?
Plus, I think a firm shouldn’t choose a Russian solution to encrypt their data. You shouldn’t have an encryption solution from a country you don’t want to access your data ; there are chances that the key generation algorithm is limited to a number of keys. That a legal obligation for example in the US, and you have to give these keys to the NSA so they can decrypt the files.
That’s why Europeans aerospace companies don’t use American software for encryption.
I think it is just an attempt at adding more bloat to the basic antivirus solution. Granted one is not secure with only an antivirus – you need anti spyware and other anti malware products. But you can get free(or cheaper alternatives) which run better than kaspersky and perform better.
Personally, I tried kaspersky before and it crashed my pc miserably. For example, it crashed whenever I called teracopy (my favorite copy program). I never installed it again – am using an oem version of Norton and when it expires, I will be using Avira or other alternatives.
Hey y’all, i’ve been thinking abouh this thing. i suppose it was like the total security or you can say it like norton 360 or somethin’. I actually think this new product could be pretty good because they’ll add more features and other stuff like file encryption password manager, etc..
It doesn’t actually bloat your memory. It’s also a good thing you may have the internet security and the password manager in one package.
(To all the other commenters out there, this is only MY opinion so don’t post nasty comments and other stuff: :)
