PC Welt is a German computer magazine that is distributed each month in different versions. This month’s magazine is offering a free fully licensed version of WinRar 3.80 to its readers. All the readers need to do is to download WinRar 3.80 and to register an account at a specific page created for the offer to receive the registration file.
The download and page are accessible for everyone and it is possible to use the registration file to register an English version of WinRar 3.80. It is likely that other languages can be installed and registered as well.
Here is a walkthrough for users who do not speak German:
- Download WinRar 3.80 from the official Winrar website. Install the software program afterwards.
- Navigate to the registration page and fill out the form on that page. The fields from top to bottom are first name, second name, email address, email address again. A click on the Abschicken button will submit the information. An email will be send to the email address entered in the registration form that contains instructions to download the registration file.
- The email contains lots of text. Every user who registered the copy is offered an upgrade to WinRar 3.91 for 33% off if the purchase is made in the first 48 hours after registration. This is reduced to 20% and 10% after that time. The first link leads to the offer page where the discounted version of WinRar can be purchased.
The second link, containing a download.php part, leads to the registration file for WinRar 3.80.
The second link leads to a basic page that contains the download link to the WinRar registration key. A click on Download des Lizensschlüssels will start the download of rarkey.rar.
- A double-click on the rarkey.rar file that has been downloaded will load that file into Winrar where it will automatically register the software.

You should do an article on the proxy server list. McAfee’s SiteAdvisor has them all listed as phishing sites.

To “Victor Ward”: after installing WinRar, shut it down. Than just double click on the reg key as instructed. No need to “import”.
To “Klemen”: you have to look in your spam folder. At least that’s where Gmail put it for me.
To “Hey silly”: you have got to be born stupid. Nobody can possibly be working that hard at being that stupid. Just too much work. Hint: try using an antivirus scanner prior to blathering.

Firefox would not let http://www.sparwelt.de/go/22155 (the download link) redirect me to anonym.to, but I was able to download it from http://linux.wareseeker.com/System/winrar-3.8.zip/2683b9d897.
The first proxy worked fine, and I was able to register.

Doesn’t work with me. It tells me the key is not a registry key. XP Home.
Tried also renaming to rarkey.reg and didnt work. Please help :(
Just open “rarkey.rar” with your Winrar. It should work.
