Firefox 3.6 RC2 Released [Firefox]

The second release candidate of the upcoming Firefox 3.6 is currently distributed to servers worldwide to be prepared for the update process when the new release is officially announced at the Mozilla website and through the web browser’s automatic updating function.

Firefox 3.6 RC2 is already available for all supported operating systems and languages on the official Mozilla ftp server. It can take up to 48 hours before the release will be officially announced so that all users can download it.

Users who want to get it early should monitor popular download portals like Betanews which usually host the US release of new Firefox releases earlier than they are announced at the Mozilla website.

It is not clear what the developer’s have changed in the release. Firefox requested a reboot after installing the new version in Windows which is usually not the case. It is therefor best to schedule the download and installation right after booting into the operating system since Firefox cannot be started after the installation until the system has been rebooted at least once.

did not ask a reboot for me, was running rc1. win7 x64

I didnt seem to need a reboot either, I went from rc1 to rc2 on Win7 32bit. I must say though, Firefox 3.6 is a major improvement over 3.5 .. The memory usage of the browser is *much* less , and the performance is much better.
