If you are a Youtube regular you must have noticed the transition of many music videos that are now shown with a Vevo header that contains a more or less direct request to visit the Vevo website. Vevo is a cooperation between Youtube and several major record labels. The terms of the deal are not known at this point in time but it is obvious that the record labels wanted to move music videos to another website. Vevo is basically offering the same as Youtube plus some additions like lyrics and artist biographies. It comes at a price as there is more advertisement on the site.
Some users think that a long term goal of the deal is to move the music videos completely off Youtube so that they can only be viewed at Vevo. One of the biggest problems – besides the fact that the Vevo website can only be accessed by users with a US-American IP address, is the fact that the videos cannot be downloaded with the standard tools that can download Youtube videos.
Youtube visitors were – for a time – not able to download Vevo videos from the website. This is changing now with the release of the first online service to download Vevo videos at Youtube. The service is offered at Nobilesoft and consists of a search form that will crawl Youtube and display videos that are found. This makes it less comfortable than browser add-on solutions but since there are not any currently that can download Vevo videos this is the best and only choice.
The service displays the search results with a small image thumbnail and download links to download the Youtube video in the formats FLV, MPEG, 3GP, MP4, MP3 or AAC. The download works fine currently. It remains to be seen how the site fares if it is discovered by the bulk of the users who are looking for a solution to download Vevo videos.

same experience from Italy, if you try to download a video hosted on VEVO you get this kind of error message:

Yea it doesn’t work. This Vevo thing is a hard one to crack.
It did work when I tested it. Either Youtube blocked the IP somehow, altered the code or something changed on the site the script is hosted on.
I confirm once more that I tested it and it worked for me.
Now it gives error and below is Youtube message “Sorry for the interruption. We have been receiving a large volume of requests from your network. To continue with your YouTube experience, please enter the verification code below.”

Hello, The script work fine, but I have several problems:
- “only” 8000Kb of broadband
- 300 user’s simultaneus downloading video (peak)
- 5000 users by day
- 8000 request by day to youtube from my server
Youtube now is displayed a captcha image, it is (redirected to user by my script) show to user, the user digit correct captcha, but the unblock is during only 3 seconds for the mount to users.
Now I’m thinking of releasing the code or writing a desktop program.
The service is now working well.
I’ve invested in hardware, the script is running on a dedicated server with 2GB of RAM and an Intel Core 2 Quad 2.8 Ghz
I’ve added load balancing and messages to indicate the process of executing the script (not desperate to waiting :-))
Finally got SOMETHING downloaded, only to find its only converted 01:30 of an 03:30 song. (Swing, Swing by All American Rejects if anyone wants to check)
Guess I’ll have to keep searching for another alternative.
Okay, I have confirmed that the song only lasts a minute thirty seconds of three minutes thirty seconds, this is a program error: ffmpeg, for lack of memory on the server, not an error downloading the video from youtube because the original FLV is complete, you may download it from here:

A temp error (debub ;-)), Yet was fixed.
Trying this right now on an Ozomatli song so far its working but im getting that same line of code that someone above me posted like the system idle process on the left of the screen and the rest of it is all funky ? marks. supposedly this is only getting the audio of this video (I Chose .mp4 for my PSP) but ill see if this works or not and if it does ill try the MPEG version if its video and convert it and if its mp3 audio ill just go with FLV and then convert it to .MP4

Bummer. I was able to watch the video but everything failed.
In my apache was up the threads to 2000 but if he is right, the connection is reset, this is because there is no available memory on the server (only 2GB) to handle so many threads. I have now lowered to 100 threads to give greater stability, only now are less the threads and the requests take a bit to boot.
And if the downloads are now made through php, and the discharge is limited to 8KB / s
I sell the script, but I’ve only received offers for 30/35 dollars, I should like a great offer, because when sell, will see that the script will be distributed “like hotcakes”
This works great but i feel rge video quality isn’t as high as the actual vevo stream
In FLV format, is exact quality of VEVO, mp4, 3gp or mpeg are a little compressed
