Regular Youtube visitors might have noticed the Vevo logo that is now being displayed on many Youtube music videos. Try a search for Lady Gaga or any of the other popular artists that top the Youtube music video list to see the logo in action. This is part of a deal between Google and several major record labels to promote Vevo which is a music platform run by those record labels.
The differences become apparent right away. Vevo is not available in all countries. Most music videos were viewable by all users at Youtube but Vevo locks out everyone who is not coming from the United States. This is currently not such a big problem as all music videos are still available at Youtube.
Another annoyance is that Vevo seems to display additional advertisement. Vevo visitors get a few additional services like lyrics or artist profiles that are not offered by Youtube. This situation is not that problematic for as long as the music videos are offered at Youtube directly as well. It could however become a issue if a long term goal of the deal is to move all official music videos to Vevo.
Some users reported that the Vevo videos on Youtube load slowly (if at all) and cannot be downloaded. Good news is that it is still possible to download Vevo videos at Youtube if the right tools are available.
The easiest way to download Vevo videos is by using the Firefox extension Download Helper which works just fine for this purpose.

Download Helper will indicate downloadable contents in the Firefox status bar. A click on the icon displays the list of all videos that have been found. Those can then be downloaded to the local computer system.
We were not able to test Download Helper at the Vevo website as it is currently blocked in our country. It would be nice if a visitor from the United States could check and see if Download Helper works at the Vevo website as well.
Check out Download Youtube Videos for more tools that might be able to download Vevo videos.
Update:
Vevo videos use protected streaming (opposed to standard Youtube videos that download to the temp folder). It is therefor as of now not possible to download Vevo music videos with the usual tools.
Update 2:
One of our readers has created a small web script that can be used to search for Vevo videos on Youtube and download them. You can access the script here.
Update 3:
RealPlayer SP can download Vevo videos. Check out this review to find out how.

here is a direct workaround for firefox users

*THIS WORKS!!!!* Hey guys, I know most of you commenting have had no luck using the Firefox Download Helper add-on to get .FLV files from Vevo videos on Youtube.
I installed the add-on for Firefox, and tested it on Youtube. I had the same “0kb” result as most of you. But the solution is this…
Rather than going to Youtube, Go to Vevo’s website and search the video you want straight from there. Then, click the Download Helper icon on your Firefox toolbar. It will show a couple different video names (Since the vids have a :30 commercial before the music video starts, the add-on gives you the option of downloading the Ad Video, or possibly even 2 or 3 Ads. But you will also see the title of the music video itself). Choose to download that.
Depending on your internet speed, the download will take about 5 minutes, so be patient. Once finished, expect to see the video size to range anywhere from 35 to 50MB (depends on the length of the video).
Most of you guys probably don’t have a program to view the .FLV file, so when opening it, let Windows search the extension and it will direct you to Final Media Player (Don’t quote me on the name lol). You can view the video to make sure it works, then from there, use a converter to make it into MPEG.
Hope that helps.
If anyone needs more help, follow me on Twitter @SoUniQ and I’ll answer your questions!
Thanks man , it worked for me !!
If you download video from youtube and facebook, etc. try Convert-tune.
It works good for me. I download video from different websites and Convert-tune works very well.
It converts video to WMV and AVI, and other formats. And it converts audio also to
WMA, WAV, MP3, etc. There is a feature I like, ‘surf and catch video’.
Vevo is full of crap, and this isn’t first time that i’m just desperate
cuz’ of this things. They just made it more troublesome and harder.
It’s crap.
And the one who wrote article is probably from UK, and now think’s he’s
smarter than anyone else.
halli. i have a qustion. i am now in germany and i cant use vevo in youtube . and sometimes when i will too see a original video trere came. UMG has deleted the video from your contry.
can somebody help me .
i was able to download from vevo it kept saying “Starting download” but afterawhile it just completed out of nowhere
I use Internet Download Manager to download videos from Vevo’s Youtube videos..it really works..
I right click on the vevo video screen and select “copy video URL at current time” and paste it on Real Player SP media search bar and download it from there and convert it to iPod. This worked for me after hours of looking for a way to download. You have to have Real Player Media player (free)
Have you ever tried. Keepvid.com is the easiest way to download youtube and vevo videos, and they dowload on .mp4 ready for ipod
Hope it helps
use j-downloader
Try this I just downloaded one from youtube and it worked. Even on the HD videos
Jaksta Streaming Media Recorder
