Desktop Torrent Search Engine Torrent Magnifier

Desktop torrent search engines seem to have grown in popularity over the last six months or so. Torrent Magnifier actually originated as a meta torrent search engine on the web which is still available. The developer’s must have made the decision to create a software for their torrent search engine to increase the popularity and reach of the service.

Torrent Magnifier comes in three different versions; A desktop search engine for Windows based operating systems, a gadget for Windows Vista and Windows 7 based operating systems and an accelerator for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer web browser.

The desktop torrent search engine can be used to quickly search for torrents about a keyword that is entered into the form at the top. Torrent Magnifier will automatically search multiple torrent sites including BTjunkie, Mininova and the Piratebay. The results are sorted by the amount of seeders with other information like the torrent’s name or tracker displayed in each line as well. A click on the Go button will open the website of the selected service in the default web browser. Here it is then possible to access additional information and to download the torrent to the local computer system.

The difference between the gadget and desktop edition is that more information are listed in the desktop edition. Everything else is identical. Torrent Magnifier offers a quick option to search multiple torrent websites for torrents. All three versions of the tool can be downloaded from the developer’s website

Update: Torrent Magnifier’s website and services are no longer available on the Internet. The website returns a 404 not found error and redirects to the hosting company’s website. Users interested in a desktop torrent search engine can take a closer look at Torrent Fetcher which provides a similar functionality. The program is only available for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

The program looks up your searches quit nice and – quickly. But one particularly annoying bug that has is not showing how big the specific download is. Like with a tv program there is no way to see if not stated in the banner, what the size of the download is (think 1020 dpi, 520 dpi, etc.)

I still think http://torrentscan.com is best way to find torrents. No need to install anything, lots of customization options, and you get access to all information you normally would when visiting isohunt for example.

    Has been removed by host.
