As Martin stated, choice of extensions depends on the user's requests. The list itself was formatted with an extension called 'MR Tech Toolkit' ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/421 )

@Crodol, the need is not the word, Firefox runs well without extensions, but these are helpful. In any event, I have it installed and have no trouble with dragging tabs opening up new windows. It also offers lots of other tab-using goodness. :)

@Martin: I wonder if installing the TabMixPlus add-on eliminates the bug you mention, as it allows dragging tabs to other locations. Seriously, on those 76 extensions (running Firefox 3.5.5) not one I consider useless!
If you care to view the list, have a walk on the wild side:

I just love'em :) Moreover, doesn't slow down anything. Perhaps pulls up the CPU cycles a bit.

Hum… well, I once had 78 extensions when I decided to clean-up: removed 3, then added 1: ouf!
http://www.ghacks.net/?p=18353#comment-914784

Well here is mine: http://i35.tinypic.com/2u4hvyt.jpg
My setup is very minimal as you can see, I removed everything that is not necessary like the google search bar or the bookmarks toolbar. It only remains two line containing the menu, some icons the (long!) address bar.
My addons are:
- AdblockPlus: the absolute most important (for me)
- Advertising Cookie Opt-out which permanently opt out of the DoubleClick cookie (Google)
- BugMeNot: bypass compulsory web registration
- Close n forget: close current tab and forget about the visit
- Download Statusbar: view and manage downloads from a tidy statusbar
- Firefug: for web development
- Greasemonkey: do I need to explain?
- IETab: used for some situations
- Locationbar²: linkifies addresses in the location bar
- Multi Links: lets you openmultiple links at the same time (useful for me)
- Stylish: a user styles manager (used in facebook, netvibes, google and firefox)
- Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out: sets permanent opt-out cookies to stop behavioral advertising
- Tiny Menu: classic...
- Tree Style Tab: show tabs like a tree (very useful for me since I usually have tens of open tabs)
- Ubiquity: use dynamic commands in firefox
I know, my addons' selection is not very minimal and contains some that could be avoided but each one is needed at some point.
I'd be happy to know what you think.

Well here is mine: http://i35.tinypic.com/2u4hvyt.jpg

My setup is very minimal as you can see, I removed everything that is not necessary like the google search bar or the bookmarks toolbar.
