Paint.NET is very good. It is just such a pitty that it does not support Photoshop-compatible filters and plugins. There is a megazillion of them out there, and some such as Alien Skin’s “Smart Fill” really speed up tasks immensely. Therefore I still stick with JASC’s Paint Shop Pro 7.04. The later versions by Corel turned regretfully into practically unusable bloatware. PSP 5 btw. makes due to its small footprint, speed and simplicity a perfect Windows-Paint replacement, with enough features, such as layer support., to achieve even more advanced tasks,

Paint.net is a great piece of software, while it doesn’t offer the same options as photoshop, it functions perfectly for those that don’t need the tools of a professional graphic designer.

my opinion, better than gimp anyday.
