It is usually not that hard to access the Gmail login page. Most users simply need to point their web browser at the standard Gmail address to access their email accounts.

But, this address is not working in all countries and some users do regularly experience difficulties when trying to connect to the Gmail web interface. These users have several different options at hand to log in to Gmail to read and send emails.

Probably the most popular is the configuration of Gmail in a desktop email software program like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. This gets rid of any problems the user might experience in the Gmail web interface and is usually recommended for users who experience Gmail login problems.

Update: The Google Mail sign in page has changed, it looks different now. Below is a screenshot of the old sign in page and afterwards a screenshot of the new one that looks identical on all Google product pages.

Users who want to configure Gmail in a desktop email program can look at the support page at the Gmail website to find instructions for several email clients.

Gmail login problems can also be related to the account, for instance when the user forgot the Gmail password or username. A Gmail help page is available that can aid the user in retrieving this data so that a Gmail login once again is possible with that account.

Users looking for the main Gmail login page can visit this url to log into Gmail right now.

Here are a couple of troubleshooting tips that you can make use of to find out why you can't access or log in to your Gmail account.

  • The first thing that you need to understand is that Gmail is part of your Google account. It is Google's email service that you can make use of. If you cannot open the homepage of Gmail, you may want to try opening the main Google page instead and use it to sign in to your account instead. Just click on the sign in button at the top right to do so.
  • You can try to open the account page on Gmail instead directly to see if that works. It is this url https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox
  • If you forgot your password, use the recovery page to restore it and get back into your account. You do need your Google Account email address for that though.
  • If you receive a temporary error (502) message while trying to load Gmail you should try again in a couple of minutes. You may alternatively try and clear your browser cache or force refresh the page using Ctrl-F5.
  • If you are receiving the message "Bad Request: Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request" clear your cache as well.
  • If you receive an Oops error followed by a number, try upgrading your browser to the latest stable version.
  • If your account has been locked, note that it is a temporary action that lasts between 5 minutes and 24 hours.

This is ludicrous – nothing works / no way to sign in – even worse than Cox. Why would I even consider using Gmail now.

what is the real problem. Maybe you should be specific what you are experiencing. For e.g. gmail has another feature wherein you can set your password so that if anyone accesses your email from another computer than the one you set as home it will send you an sms in your cellphone.

You being so general. the net has always been difficult for new comers.

As for you I don’t know.

i have not been able to login to my gmail or any other google accounts like blogger, calendar etc. since the middle of june 2010 for some unknown reason. i cannot even get the login pages up on my screen to be able to login directly to any of my google accounts. i am unable to login into ‘blogger’ to update my blogs either. i am getting my gmail account emails thru my desktop client ‘thunderbird’ however. i have so much info stored on the google servers and i am unable to access any of it. it is very inconvenient to say the least. i have tried everything suggested on the various gmail help pages like clearing caches, checking security settings etc. but nothing has so far worked. i feel that my problem has something to do with how google routes its url through turkish ip addresses for my country (australia) somehow maybe?
