In Chrome, i can use extensions like multiNotifier for this exact same purpose. There are others too.

Wow, nine is a lot. Maybe try contacting the developer to see if it is possible to increase the number of accounts.

Well I have 9 accounts and I was hoping I could put all of them on here but after I put 5 on I couldn’t put on any more. I’m disappointed because I was wanting to get rid of one of my notifiers and it holds all of them, but does some weird stuff, like when an email comes in it wont signal the right account it puts it in another……. What I mean is…… I have an email that says person “A” sent it. I go to that account and it’s not there, so I have to check all the rest of my accounts to see where it’s from. Needless to say it’s very frustrating.

Thank you, I intend to sleep just well.

I have no illusion about degree of online privacy and Google’s role in it. But in no way that does (or should) make me more likely to hand login details to personal and financial information to third party application that I know for a whole half day.

I received mail suggesting I check it out for possible review at my blog.

So far I don’t like how this one works. From its FAQ it reads settings from web (for compatibility), is “web-based” and will install updates silently.

Frankly I am very unlikely to use my Google account with third party tools and such mechanics hardly relieve my professional computer paranoia. :)

Gamil Notifier is based su IMAP and doesn’t support proxy. However Spiffy does.

Paulus. The main difference is that CookiPie is a web browser extension while Gmail Notifier is a desktop application. I do not like to be logged into my Google account whenever I surf the web. This is taken care of by Gmail Notifier. It also does not force you to have the web browser tabs open all the time to check for new emails. Gmail Notifier is nice but I personally prefer a desktop email client like Thunderbird that can also handle multiple Gmail accounts without problems.

Great post! The timing was perfect because just this morning I was looking for a way to see both of my gmail accounts at the same time… the only thing left is creating a way to have both accounts open in different tabs of the same browser.
