I have the full version so they each have their own sandboxes. also FF 3.5 does look nice and fast but they all do until you add plugins :) if you are scared why not download sandboxie http://www.sandboxie.com/

All add-ons that I use are working although I have to admit that I'm using the nightly tools which means I cannot really tell if they work out of the box or have to be forced to work.
