Skype 4.1 Beta Adds Screen Sharing

skypeA new beta version of the Windows edition of Skype 4.1 has been released today. The new version adds several new features to the voice over IP client that increase its value for end users and business alike. Probably the most popular change is the addition of screen sharing which makes it possible to share part or all of the computer screen with contacts. This can be quite interesting for people working in IT to get a visual of what the user is doing that is causing the problem. It could also be interesting for presentations and demonstrations.

Another interesting addition is the contact importer which allows users to import contacts from services like Gmail or Aol. These contacts can now also be send again to other Skype users. Old time Skype users might remember that the feature was already implemented in Skype 3 but got removed in previous versions of Skype 4. Configuring birthday reminders is another feature that is making a comeback in Skype 4.1 Beta.

I want screensharing. :) There was decent Skype plugin (RemoteX or something) for that but last time I checked it went dead. And rest of plugin I tried are either not fitting my taste or really crippled version of commercial stuff.

Native screen sharing would be awesome. If they get it right. :)
