Setting a static IP address for the local network adapter can be advantageous in several ways. It is for instance important if the computer is connected to a router with configured port forwarding. There are other benefits which are not part of this article. Experienced computer users know how to set static IP addresses for their network adapters. It might take them a minute or two but usually not longer than that.
Inexperienced computer users on the other hand might want to take a look at the Simple Static IP networking tool which allows them to set a static IP address with a few clicks of the mouse button.

A user who wants to set a static IP address needs to select the network adapter from the pull down menu on top of the application’s interface. Simple Static IP will then display the current settings of the network adapter including the assigned IP address, subnet, gateway and DNS server.
A click on Enable Static IP will configure a static IP address for the selected network adapter. It is possible to keep the DNS settings or use the router or the Open DNS servers as the dns server for the network adapter. It is also possible to randomize the static IP address by clicking on the Randomize New IP button in the interface.
Simple Static IP is compatible with the following Microsoft operating systems: Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008.

It comes with an installer, have not tested it if you can simple execute the exe without installation. It comes with a button to return to the previous state. Thanks for the compliment ;)
ipswitch easy to use
This setup file, when cached by my sync software and dropped on my XP machine, was flagged as a false positive by my virus scanner, which said it had the signature of Possible_Movly-1. I’m not saying it’s dirty; I’m saying it caused a false positive and am doing so just in case someone else gets that problem.
thanx maan soo much!!! :*
