A good way of testing new versions of the so called Google browser is by running a portable version of Google Chrome. The only problem that arises is that it can be quite problematic to stay up to date with all the web browser updates that the Google Chrome team releases regularly. Long time Ghacks reader Caschy is regularly creating new portable versions of the Google Chrome browser at his website after official browser updates.
New versions of the Google browser can be regularly downloaded from the website. The browser can then be executed by launching the file ChromeLoader.exe for a normal program start or IncognitoChromeLoader.exe for starting the anonymous mode of the Google browser.

Updates that are released can simple be copied over the existing directory of the Google browser. Users just have to make sure to avoid overwriting the profile directory which stores user related data.
Users who are interested in staying up to date with the portable Google Chrome releases are encouraged to add the RSS feed of the website to their feed reader as this seems to be the best way to be notified of program updates.
Update: Another possibility is the portable version of Chrome at the Portable Apps website. The site operators offer downloads for the latest Google Chrome Stable, Beta and Dev builds on their site. You need to install those builds into a directory first before they become truly portable.
The portable nature makes it still necessary to download updates manually from the Portable Apps website. These updates are then installed over the current location on the computer.
The portable Chrome version has several limitations. Passwords are for instance tied to the PC the browser is run on, which means they are not saved in the same directory as the portable version of the browser. The same is true for certificates.

great post. google chrome is excellent
Chrome is as good as Firefox in a lot of respects, what you will not find is hordes of free mods and add ins that open source Firefox has.
Also I feel that Google has its hooks in to internet traffic enough without using a Google browser.
Chrome is slick in it appearance and very minimal which will suite beginners, and its ettings are easy to adjust. However, I will stick to Firefox.
When I run chrome I can’t rely on results (need third party regulation right :{ , so I pick Bing as default. Chrome no like, I no like. My next attempt is to come to terms that it is universally known as the best browser and you just don’t want to abandon Firefox. Understandable but the best choice can be made using a simple pie chart in dos. Yet I continue to use Firefox. And search Google.
Nice article though buddy.. Loved your focus.
The best part of Chrome for me is that it can handle a lot of tabs without getting slow..
I still prefer firefox becoz its have more plugin option. But i’m using chrome for my android mobile :)
Google Chrome is the best web browser. It really stuck my mind why people underestimating the Chrome web browser.
Thanks for chrome, most of websites support webkit now.
My software web scraping tool – fminer http://www.fminer.com use webkit too, and developed two years, now it can deal with most of sites too.
Now the Google Instant Search Option in Chrome has added sugar to already sweet juice to make it the best broswer…
Yup, this is completely true. I find chrome browser as very lightweight compared to other browsers
I think you can use portable Chrome for interactive CDs as alternative to K-Meleon. All you need to is pass “–app=” as parameter.
And plus it comes with Flash plugin. :)
@Dheeraj
Maybe it “stucks” your mind because your mind is retarded. I don’t see a large percentage underestimating Chrome, I just see people using Chrome, realizing it’s crap, and moving on.
Where are the menu’s in Chrome?
Where are the shortcuts?
Why is it so slow if you open more than 10 tabs?
Where is the decent adblocking?
There are dozens of issues that need to be fixed.
Opera is better than Firefox and Chrome combined. It’s faster than Chrome, has better adblock/flashblock than Firefox/Chrome, and the menu’s actually make sense.
I’ve been using both FF and Opera for years; I know both browsers’ menu’s really well, and yet FF’s menu’s still seem retarded.
At least not as bad as IE’s menu. I upgraded a friend’s IE to version 9 the other day and I swear the menu is almost completely unchanged from IE6. IE needs an overhaul.
Chrome is surely going to be the browser for the future. With new additions to it on a regular basis, Its surely leading the market
Yep, I just started using Google Chrome Web browser, must say it is way lighter and faster than Mozilla Firefox but not faster like IE9.
I don’t see a large percentage underestimating Chrome, I just see people using Chrome, realizing it’s crap, and moving onª!!!
If you are concerned about your privacy (which you shouldbe),
use Iron Browser instead.
It is a spinoff of the Google Chrome browser, which are both based on the Chromium platform.
It gives you all the power and benefits of the Chromium platform, minus the Google privacy invasion!
I been using it since it was launched and it works perfect:

well, although I have some complains about chrome web store recently but when it comes to browser I will still use chrome because it is better than Firefox, but I think IE is faster than chrome when it comes to web browsing so maybe chrome can improve on that…
Love it already, it’s awesomely fast.

The latest Chrome 18 and up to 19 starts to annoys me. The Facebook share buttons most times doesn’t works when you log in… but Google+ works just fine… and some pop-up menus in sites like Deviantart.com doesn’t works anymore. I am waiting for updates and looking back into Firefox.
Chrome is a good browser, i like how chrome jailed every tab process.
