1) W7BR apparently won’t backup a user-added library (i.e., which is not one of the four built-in Windows 7 libraries.)
2) If W7BR fails to backup any file, no matter how singular and insignificant, it considers the whole operation as if it never happened. Thus, despite months of regular weekly backups, and finding the most recent files included, it still says “Last backup: Never.”
3) Problem (2) forces me to manually verify that the backup was indeed done — so far for the promise of W7BR automation.
4) But I can’t blindly trust that the backup was done — there were instances it wasn’t.
5) The backup time appears as the time the backup file is accessed after the actual operation.
6) The Explorer-like facility associated with W7BR bahaves
unlike Windows Explorer. On Windows Explorer, on the other hand, the backup file behaves unlike a normal file/folder.
7) W7BR cannot distinguish a file that has been moved to another location from a new or a modified one. Thus it creates redundant copies of the same file, one in the original location and one in the new location. Also, it treats renamed files as new files and keeps files that have long been deleted.

I’d be grateful if someone helps me select a backup software that aviods all or most of these problems. Thank you.

I have chosen it mainly for the preview screen. I always check on the preview screen what will be deleted, which files are updated, which files are new. My backup is not only a measure to mitigate against technical problems or loss or theft, but also a warning against ‘strange’ things happening on my laptop, and a means to let go of disposed files in a controlled manner.

I don’t mind paying a few bucks for this kind of software, because I am depending/relying heavily on it.
