Discover New Feeds With FeedMil

feedmilcomHow are most Internet users discovering new interesting blogs? The most popular methods are probably by following links on blogs they already read and by recommendations posted in their feed reader. Yes, there are blog directories like Technorati but most of them concentrate on the top blogs and not on the small but as good blogs. Feedmil could become a viable alternative to finding new and interesting blogs. It is basically a blog search engine that is made up of a search form that includes a slider ranging from surprising to well known. The interesting aspect is that the user can select a range for blogs that are related to the search term. Surprising blogs are those that are not known by many users, that do not have thousands of readers while well known blogs are the exact opposite of this obviously.

cloud antivirusSecurity software developer Panda announced a new antivirus software solution that is based on the so called cloud computing concept. Cloud computing refers to dynamically scalable services that are provided over the Internet. Panda promises lighter resource usage and better performance by moving the data analysis from the local computer system to the cloud servers on the Internet. Anti Key Logger Software

Key Loggers are one of the most dangerous threat that computer users face these days. A key logger can be hardware and software based. It was specifically designed to record key strokes on a computer system. This can be usernames, passwords, credit card information, account data, business secrets and pretty much everything else that is being added to the computer by use of the computer keyboard. Hardware key loggers require physical access to the computer system while software key loggers usually transmit their data over the Internet.

Dedicated Server Disk Wipes

dedicated serverSystem administrators do not have physical access to dedicated servers. These servers are usually hosted by a web hosting company in a secured data center. Most dedicated servers are rented for a certain period of time and then passed on to the next customer. While some dedicated server hosters securely wipe and format the hard drives before they are made available again some only format them. Reason for this might be time but also missing knowledge that data can be restored if it is not wiped securely from the server drives.

Use your computer as a phone for free

bluetoothiconI recently discovered a really cool feature in Vista (I think it isn’t available quite so readily in XP), which allows you to transform your computer into a phone really easily. Of course you’ll need a bluetooth capable mobile, and a bluetooth capable computer (or an adapter), but once you hook the two together you can import, export, sync and make calls without any external software. Take a look at my screenshot tour of how to do this, basically I am making my laptop a mirror of my phone contacts and using it as a headset for the phone.
