Yesterday marked a new release of Google Chrome, the new version is yet again in beta (Google like its beta stuff). They are implementing some new features, we’ve even gotten to a point where there’s a pretty neat one not available in other browsers by default. In their own words:
The first thing you might notice about this new beta is the speed improvement, but you’ll also find additional browsing tools, such as basic form autofill, full page zoom, support for autoscroll, and a new way to drag tabs into side-by-side view.
That side-by-side view looks pretty good, although I don’t think it will be of any serious use unless you have a big monitor. I usually work on a 1650×1200 monitor, and I still find websites side-by-side distracting. That being said, this feature can be put to good use when researching. You can have same functionality in Firefox using Tab Splitter
Again, I have to say I like where Google is going. I still don’t believe Chrome is solid enough to use full time and I don’t like to use multiple similar applications, but it is getting there. What are those features which prevent you from using Chrome?

Errrrr… I don’t need it. I’m mostly happy with Firefox 3 – with it’s layout (and ability to change it), themes, extensions, plugins etc.
The almost only thing that bugs me with FF is long startup time sometimes, but all is a tradeoff – you give something for something else. I give loading speed for extensions.
Hmm, still not working on Windows 7 x64 (using b7048)
pretty cool stuff.
When do we get Full Screen mode?
I don’t use Google Chrome because it doesn’t support the Google Toolbar. And I like to use this toolbar, so . . .
No extensions nor an extension community = no new user. It don’t matter how fast it is to me.
I couldn’t fathom switching to Google Chrome from Firefox because I would miss Greatmonkey, the Better Gmail extension and Google Toolbar – until I tried it out.
I have never looked back because the sheer speed and simplicity of the awesome Chrome browser cancels out any negatives.
Occasionally I go back to Firefox if I’m on a computer without Chrome and it seems just downright sluggish in comparison.
Chrome RULES in my opinion.
Currently there are two things missing from chrome for me. The first is an ad blocker, Google would love that huh? :) The second is a good RSS feed implementation.
I’m reasonably happy with firefox other than all the hard drive thrashing it does at start-up, unsure whether this is caused by bookmarks or plugins but it blags my head a bit.
