The 0 upload speed won’t help. While (atleast some versions of) uT does pose a restriction if the upload speed is set too small (v1.6 displays ‘restricted download’ if the speed is for example 4kB/s) the design of the network is what those who don’t want to share should be worried about – clients preffer to upload to peers whom they can download from. Thus if upload is set to 0 then most clients will find some other peer to whom they’ll rather upload than to you. Only seeds don’t mind, as they upload to those who can download fastest.

As for the program – obviosly crap. Even if it indeed does something it’s useless by uTorrent, which allows to set pretty much every option that somehow could affect speeds. Rather than trying external programs uT’s own Speed Guide is a complete solution, optimizing settings for actual Internet line capacity.

Does this even work? I ran it for a good few minutes. uTorrent continued to download in the background but nothing updated out here.

There are plenty of clients around that do this practically speaking. :)

Hardly polite to other peers and fast way to get yourself banned on closed trackers.

There are some opensource torrent clients available. What if , theoretically speaking, hacked into one and configured it to unlimited download and o upload?
Also I have a friend who has absymal internet plan, Unlimited with 64 kbps!
The poor thing keeps downloading all day/night. At any time he has aroud 5 torrents downloading at the speed of 5kbps

I stay well way from these “magical” utilities, even more so if they’re undocumented – for those who feel their bittorrent speed isn’t optimized I’d recommend something like this guide:

Accelerators of this kind are obvious scam. Good guide on tweaking settings for your client is first and last thing that can really impove torrenting (a bit).
