Game companies seem to be one of the factors why the unauthorized distribution of games is so popular these days. If you purchase a game you get the DVD, the cover and if you are lucky a booklet. You also get copy protection that forces some ridiculous restrictions on you, like not being able to install the game more than a number of times or having to uninstall software on the PC before the game can be started.

Downloaders on the other hand apply a crack and get the same game for free, without all the hassles that the buyers get.

Does that sound like a good deal? I personally do not think so. Yes, there is a moral component to it but there is also the question about the damage that is done if someone downloads and plays a game that he would never purchase.
