Ghacks Christmas Giveaway Announcement

I actually had the idea last year but did not pursuit it enough to make it happen in 2007. This year however is different. I’m very proud to announce the first annual Ghacks Christmas Giveaway. We will provide visitors with the opportunity to win excellent software programs (and probably other things as well) from December 1 to December 24.

Many well known and respected companies have already agreed to provide us with free software products that we could hand out to lucky readers. I do not want to spoil the fun just yet and announce which products we are going to offer but you can be sure that they have been selected because they are excellent.

A new post with additional details will be posted on December 1 when the Ghacks Christmas Giveaway officially starts. It will include all rules and information needed to grab a few nice software packages. Stay tuned. We are counting on you to spread the word of the giveaway.

We are still in the talks with several software developers and would like to use this article to listen to you. Do you have a software company in mind that would make a good fit for the Ghacks Christmas Giveway? We cannot guarantee anything but we might contact the company to see if they would donate a few software packages. Let us know in the comments.

All posts related to the Giveaway will be tagged as “ghacks christmas giveaway” which should make it easy for anyone to stay up to date with the latest posts.

I’d be happy to donate a few instances of Direct Access, speedtyping software and text expander.

Version 2.0 will be released at the beginning of December.

Please, get in touch with me if you are interested.

  2. I wont say no if you give me an iPod for Christmas.
The other legitimate softwares I have built myself are “Find whether the no is Prime or not”; “A program to print Pascals Triangle”, “A program to print Fibonacci Series”. Interested?
Let me know at my website.
And oh I build these programs on Turbo C++
    :P

I hope I get a seedbox to buffer some my private trackers. That’s will be great/

  4. Paul(us) Bekkers. says:

A sandboxie (.com) program would be great.

  5. Ahmed Kotb says:

any thing free is great :D thank u :D

  6. Sebastian says:

For all of us running Linux, it’d be nice to have a copy of CrossOver (from CodeWeavers) so we can run and test all the neat apps advertised here at GHacks!

  7. Rupert says:

Well, I am sure we would all love copies of Ableton Live, Photoshop, Sony Vegas, but I guess they can’t give those away ;)

It’d be cool to maybe get some games for free, since you are the only tech blogs to cover games (and good on ya) or anything really.

Just make sure they aren’t those silly LE versions that are essentially ads for the full version.

  8. Dotan Cohen says:

I agree with Sebastian, Crossover would be a good choice for Ghacks to give away: it is a technology-related application.

  9. RG says:

Thank you Martin, as one of those that visits often but doesn’t comment as often as you would like it’s always appreciated. Looking forward to this giveaway, will have to try to comment more often too :) Can’t come up with anything in particular that I would love right now but will throw out a name..how about Do-Organizer or something similar, a ‘top of the line’ PIM

  10. venkat says:

For me giveaways of Internet Security suits specially very helpful to users ,because all are always struggling to protect their PC from viruses, spywares, and malwares.I am Waiting for your give away.

  11. @Sebastien
I managed to get my hands on Codeweavers. It isn’t as good as Wine, but it has been preprogramed to install some vital applications like MS Office all versions, Photoshop. So you can install them without any tweaking.
    I tried to install MS Office using Wine but failed, however Codeweavers installed it in a snp and it is working :}

  12. @ Venkat
Use Ubuntu (Linux) like me and you’l never have to worry about viruses.
I have my own blog about Linux. Click on my name

I can not agree with you no OS is safe from viruses ,threats or infections in my opinion whether it is windows or Linux.

  14. Since Linux and Mac OSX have less percentage of users hence less viruses are built for them.
I am using Ubuntu and havent got one virus!
Even on PC with XP I only got infected once!
That too because my stupid brother disabled Avast and the virus could gain an entry.
Try Linux, you might end up liking it. It is Free, you can even run MS Word 2007 etc on it.

  15. Sebastian says:

Hi, it’s me again. I just woke up and I came up with the idea of a new software I’ve been looking forward to have: SmartDraw. As far as I could tell, it’s one of the best Business graphics software in the market. I’ve been relying on web tools such as Gliffy to do this kind of graphics (e.g. UML diagrams) and although Gliffy has literally saved my ass, it’s no real competitor for SmartDraw. Of course, I’ll have to rely on Wine (or in CrossOver) to be able to run it ;)

    @Iampriteshdesai

I have to agree with venkat on this one. even if your computer cannot be affected, you can still infect other’s computers.

anyway I hope I get something from ghacks christmas giveaway.. :D

  17. Another one Martain,
I would like to get Kate Winslet’s email id so that I can chat with her…
Will I get it Santa Claus? plz….

  18. LM7 says:

UltraRecall Pro (kinook.com) and Infoqube (sqlnotes.net) would be splendid pieces of software for a giveaway!

  19. Sergey says:

    Santa Claus Is here!
