Greasemonkey scripts can really increase the usability of a web browser which is especially true for scripts that improve a day to day activity. If you regularly search for and download files at Rapidshare you might have felt the frustration when a link was not working anymore. Most Rapidshare Search sites and search engines give no indication if a link is valid or expired.
The Cavern Links Checker has been developed as a links checker for the Cavern’s forum but has been expanded since then to check links anywhere on the Internet pointing to various file hosts like Rapidhsare, Megashare or Megaupload.
A total of 13 different file hosters are currently supported by the script. Since the link checker works on every Internet site it comes in handy for users who use search engines to find files on sites like Rapidshare but also for users who frequent forums or websites with their own databases.
Firefox users will have to download and install the Greasemonkey extension for Firefox before installing the user script. Google Chrome users can take a look at the Google Chrome Greasemonkey article while Opera users can do the same at Greasemonkey in Opera. Internet Explorer users might want to take a look at Trixie to add Greasemonkey support.

I found this script useful. It can’t process some pages correctly (Google pages, for example), but can be easily turned off on that pages.

How long do people think it will be before copright holders ie. record companies, movie industry etc. create a spidering tool that picks out rapidshare links from google search results en masse amd asks for them to be deleted. Apols if this is a naive comment!
yo_man, in fact may be they already did, but pirates move to “hidden text” cover on the sites and forums. You must be registered to see what is hidden, so the industry have to register the spiders on every site in the Internet :)
And we pray for pirate bays, and our Swedish, Russian and Chinese friends :)
doesn’t work on opera.. unless its only not working in the newest opera, can anybody confirm?
