Crawl Rapidshare In Real Time

You find two Rapidshare Search sites on the Internet. The first is using a custom Google search engine effectively making use of what Google has already indexed which also means that many links will be outdated and not working because of the time difference between indexation and the user search. The second type of websites maintain their own Rapidshare database that gets regularly updated with new links and cleaned by dedicated staff and users of the site. These sites usually make the better choice but provide less hits when searching for specific files.

The new search engine Crawl Rapidshare (via Technospot) tries to raise the bar by providing real time search results that are automatically checked by a script to inform the user if a link is not working anymore. It still makes use of search engines to populate the search results but it does add the real time results and the file checking as added services that makes the Rapidshare service more usable than most other websites that offer a similar one.

The option to check the links has to be enabled by checking the Check Links Validity box beneath the search form. It will slow down the search because every link will be checked first and then listed on the page. The file size of working links will also be displayed next to the name of the file which is another useful information.

it sounds nice, but i still think nothing beats a good rapidshare links forum. the one i use has 750,000 members, and is very well moderated. bad links are removed within minutes, and the community is very trustworthy. i find what i’m looking for 95% of the time, and the Requests section helps out with that other 5%
