I have no problem using openoffice coz I run it in Linux. I run it in few Windows pc just to show other how powerful Calc against Excel. So Windows apologizer, can’t u live without open source software? Joomla, Firefox, Chrome, even Nokia sells Maemo 5 smartphone. I’d been planning to upgrade from Office 2003 to Office 2007 since moving to Vista. I may just give OpenOffice a spin and see if I can use it for work. Am a bit worried about compatibility since I have to frequently send documents to my clients, who’re mostly using Microsoft Office.

Have downloaded the Windows version and have had multiple problems under Vista, so it’s back to v2.4 for me. These included screen corruption, problems with preview in the ‘load slide design’ dialog in Impress, and loss of sound in mpgs embedded in Impress, which worked fine in v2.4. It’s a big step backwards in my book.

When I check for updates, I get this message”Checking for an update failed” And the the reason for failure “Could not establish an Internet connection to update30.services.openoffice.org”
How do I fix this?
