GPass Bypass Censorship and Restrictions

Censorship is a huge problem in many countries of the world but especially rampant in the Middle East and Asia. If websites and information are censored the local population has a hard time accessing them from within the country. This usually involves the use of proxy servers or vpn solutions to bypass the country’s restrictions.

Restrictions on the other hand are usually implemented by an Internet service to prevent access to the service from users that do not live in the target area. Some prominent examples are the Internet Radio Pandora and the streaming video services Hulu and ABC.

Gpass is a free software that provides an encrypted connection to bypass Internet censorship and restrictions. It makes use of encrypted socks tunnels to launch applications and can use Skype and Tor as backup tunnels.

Every application that connects to the Internet can be used with Gpass. Most run out of the box without having to enter details into the application. Some require that the proxy server (localhost:8000) is set in the application itself.

bypass censorship

Gpass provides links to a few applications like Firefox, Internet Explorer and the default email client in it’s program interface. The user can drag and drop additional applications in the interface so that they can be launched to bypass restrictions as well.

Gpass works with Hulu, ABC and Pandora but the connection is rather slow and the viewing experience therefor limited. The main use of Gpass is therefor to access information on the Internet without difficulties and reprisals.

Users can check if Gpass is running properly by looking in the title frame of the application that they started. It should state [via Gpass] which is the indicator that the service is working. The IPs of the service are located in the United States.

  1. syber says:

Gpass was developed by World’s Gate, Inc that is an oversea Chinese company, they against Chinese government internet censorship. Now, it becomes an international company, Gpass is not only for Chinese people, that is also popular around the world. I personal think Gpass is good for regular surf website but not enough for watch stream media.

  2. garbanzo says:

can anyone say how this compares to Tor? is it as secure? is it any faster?

  3. Syber says:

I think to use Gpass is easier than Tor. The speed that depends on what you use for, if you just want surf some websites Gpass is fast.

  4. garbanzo says:

well i use OperaTor which is all pre-configured, it really doesn’t get much easier. it’s a portable app, so just download, run, and you’re surfing securely…

  5. Syber says:

garbanzo,Gpass is also pre-configured. You do not need to do anything, just double click icons that already in right lane, like Firefox, IE, some media players, Flashget. If you run Opera you can add it into right lane, and click Opera icon, that all. The best point is Gpass allows you add other software which access internet.

  7. Martin says:

Do you really think there is only one source for news? If I find it on another website I usually mention it. Think before you start throwing ridiculous accusations around.

  8. H.W. says:

  17. kottis says:

gpass and freegate are intended only for china.it’s over for others.servers can not handle for free international load of demand so they have cut it off.so simple.if any one knows good alternatives for usa ip restricted sites[apart from well known hotspot and tor] to access please contribute.
