Rapidshare Reduces Premium User Download Limit

The file hoster Rapidshare seems to have seen a huge increase in premium users, those users that pay for the service to receive a faster transfer rate and other comfort functions, since they introduced the new system that saw a removal of the captchas but a introduction of a speed limit for guest users.

Premium users who never had to endure the Rapidshare captchas received a ten Gigabyte per day download limit after the changes which was now reduced to four Gigabytes per day during a so called transition period where Rapidshare will increase their server capacities to meet the increased demand.

This in turn could mean that they will raise the limit to ten Gigabytes once the transition period is over. Most premium users will probably not realize the change but it will definitely affect Rapidshare power users who download many Gigabytes per day from the file hoster.

A selection of Rapidshare Search Engines may help users who are trying to find files that are hosted at Rapidshare.

    Here we go again!
I blame retarded people. It’s all because of the cats

I have used the service a few times.
buying a month twice. but decided not to use them anymore. then they announce that they will be changing their download limit, from a maximum 25 gigs in 5 days, to 10 gigs a day. but it seems that it turns out to be 8.3 gigs a day. some BS over gigabyte definitions.
so instead of downloading 25 gigs at one time and taking a break during their imposed 5 day period. I can only download 8.3 gig everyday and then my downloader stops. so I have to start it up every day.

then 5 days into my 1 month subscription, they impose a 4 gig limit, which translates into something like 3.4 gigs a day. I only signed up because they promised 10 gigs a day, now that I am getting 4.3 gigs a day.
I feel that they have committed fraud, they promised 10gigs and give you 4.3 gig.
I am getting less gigs than before thier supposed bandwidth increase.
As for this BS transitional period, I doubt that they will give me back the gigs lost before or after my monthly subscription expires.

Rapidshare is dead to me now.
Heres the first nail in your coffin Rapidshare.

They should have been ready for this.. :P

i am a rapidshare user, i think it is around 9.5 gigs per day now, not sure though, but here’s the catch, my broadband provider company limits me to 2 gig per day then it become dial up slow.

not fun, not fun at all.

  5. Mystakilla says:

I have noticed lately their servers are extremely busy, they cannot handle the flow of connections…I have been a premium user for years and loved their service however i have been getting download speeds as fast as dial up is lately!! I will not be extending my preimum service.

  6. Chris says:

Just signed up specifically for a 5Gb download only to find part of the way through it that they have given me a 2.6 Gb limit – what a rip off.

  7. justin says:

I noticed this big time. my downloads just decided to stop so I checked rapidshare and found that my download limit was below zero. I’m downloading a 50gb set of files so I keep having to exchange rapid points for more traffic. hello megaupload

  8. Budak says:

My ISP is talk talk and I’m convinced they r somehow blocking any access to rapidshare at certain times. It doesn’t happen all the time but it seems to be only during working hours(0-GMT Ireland)Its a real pain in the a$$!
I also use MegaUpload and to date, I have no real complaints other than the smaller selection of sites hosting MU Links. The last time I looked into it I found RS alot cheaper, Although it seems this has changed. Thanks for the heads-up pity i didn’t read this last week before I extened my account for 3 MONTHS! Awww $hiet!

Those people are really a bad experience to me.
Rapidshare is dead to me too after this month, 2.6600 GB a day now !!!! I mean what the hell you can do with 2.6600 GB for 24 hours.

  10. zgenj says:

i mean wtf you cant even DL a HD movie a day?..pays off better to rip ‘em after takin’ them out from the video-store..huge shame..thinking of not using it any more, or the free mode only from now on..
pity though, used to be a smashing site

  11. rapidsharedude says:

please rapidshare increase the bandwidth to atleast 8 gb per day..

  12. John Glonos says:

How funny. Instead of going back to 10 GB they reduced the limit even more to 2.66 GB per day. And this has nothing to do with increase in traffic since if you pay more to Rapidshare you extend your limit. That is a shame for them. I think people should turn to other hosts and abandon Rapidshare.

    Hi

I myself am going to switch, especially since we were suppose to of won a month ago with the petition. I have faithfully used their service for quite a few years now, and I guess like everything else on the web, greed takes over. I understand it takes money to run large servers, but, that is what we are paying for. Either they should put the limit back up or get out of the hosting business.

Let’s get another petition going and post it where people can find it and sign it, maybe on phazeddl or something.

    Very dis-satisfied

  14. Fiou says:

We are going to switch to what? I tried uploaded.to and it is very slow and doesn’t accept Orbitdownloader

  15. Me says:

  16. premium rapidshare customer says:

Rapidshare will not see a penny from me again!

  17. rapidshare customer says:

damn you rapidshare 2.6 gigabyte limit. i will never purchase another account from them ever again. i suppose ill take my business to megaupload

  18. steve says:

i have used them for a year now and was in the middle of a download only to find that i have a limit slapped onto my download bandwith im going to megaupload……….. fuck rapidshare!

  19. Ab says:

SO annoying….I already started my Megaupload account.

  20. usser92 says:

welll .. just shut them down and write at the site a nice “we want 10GB per day not 2.66″ :))) they will get the point xD

  21. Anonymous says:

Just got my rapidshare 3 month premium account, and for some reason after downloading about 8gb between yesterday and early this morning…. all the files stopped.

I guess I hit the bandwidth cap.

If you are going to provide a service…. provide it, don’t impose these stupid limitations.

    rip-off
