Software Updates Week 19

Lots of updates for popular applications in this week. The usual suspects have been updated, like uTorrent, Azureus, Opera or foobar that seem to be updated on a weekly schedule but also some applications that don’t get updated that often, say Azureus or Tagscanner.

A short explanation about this post for the new readers. I’m writing an article each Wednesday about last week’s software updates. Only free and Open Source software makes it into that list and if you follow it regularly you can be sure that the software on your system is up to date.

This week’s update of the week award goes to Tagscanner, one of the best automatic tagging applications. As usual, if you know of another update let me know about it.

• Audacity 1.3.5 Beta – one of the best free sound editors.
• Autoruns 9.21 – probably the best application to analyze autostart items.
• Azureus 3.0.5.2a – popular Java Bittorrent client.
• BitComet 1.01 – another fast and lightweight Bittorrent client.
• BurnAware Free Edition 1.3 – CD and DVD burning software.
• CPU-Z 1.45 – diagnostic tool that displays information about and related to the CPU.
• DC++ 0.706 – another version of the P2P software Direct Connect.
• eMule 0.49a – new version of the emule P2P client.
• Executor 0.98 Beta – Windows Run replacement, program launcher.
• Flock 1.2a Beta – social browser based on Mozilla with support for delicious and Flickr.
• foobar2000 0.9.5.3 Beta 1 – another great audio player.
• IE7pro 2.3 RC1 – THE plugin for Internet Explorer users, adds many needed features to Microsoft browser.
• KMPlayer 2.9.3.1431 Beta – another popular video player.
• MediaMonkey 3.0.3.1170 RC6 – music organizer, manager and player.
• Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool 1.41 – checks if the computer is infected by spyware or worms.
• nHancer 2.4.1 – offers application based settings for Nvidia Video Cards.
• nLite 1.4.5 – create your own Windows installation CD by ripping unneeded applications and adding needed ones.
• Notepad++ 4.9.2 – excellent Notepad replacement with increased functionality.
• ooVoo 1.6.1.7 – multi-user video chat application.
• Opera 9.50 Build 9981 Beta – new Beta version of the upcoming new version of Opera.
• Process Monitor 1.33 – advanced monitoring tool for Windows.
• SMPlayer 0.6.0 – MPlayer frontend. This is my software video player of choice.
• Soundbase 2008.5.7 – music organizer and player.
• TagScanner 5.0 Build 521 – automatic tagging for large music collections.
• UltraVNC 1.0.4 RC16 – UltraVNC is a powerful, easy to use and free software that can display the screen of another computer (via internet or network) on your own screen.
• Weather Watcher 5.6.28 – if you like detailed weather reports this application is for you.
• WildBit Viewer 5.2 Alpha 7.0 – fast image viewer.
• WinSCP 4.1.2 Beta – WinSCP is freeware SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) and SCP (Secure CoPy) client for Windows using SSH (Secure Shell)

   martin, could you point me to the download link for the latest aimp beta? great player, but their site is a mess; at least for non-russians.
