I've been using Twhirl for a little while now and it really is quite good. Recently though, I've been looking for more integration between applications that I use a lot, and I came across the TwitterFox extension. I don't want to link directly to my blog, so I'll just give you a brief synopsis.

Basically TwitterFox uses almost the same interface as the default Twhirl UI, only it resides on your status bar. Clicking on a little button on the statusbar pops up TwitterFox. You can then make a quick update to your status. You can also easily see people who have replied to you. TwitterFox also gives you updates every 5 minutes (configurable amount of time) about who's been Twittering what.

Agreed, love it. Much better than the twitter standalone site. Be sure to check out twitpic.com as well though for those phone pics that you can toss on your twitter stream. Just email it to the site and put your comment in the subject line. its TEh h07n3$$!!!
