Wow, that’s a remarkable piece of work Martin. I’m not much of a gamer myself, I actually seldom play any other games than my favorite MMO but I might be still interested in the articles there, they look very good so far.

The design is quite decent, though I would personally prefer a brighter layout with less graves, crosses and stuff with a bit more emphasis on the logo (a more sophisticated font or so) but that’s just my point of view and I do get the idea of making it look a bit mysterious. I’m sure you’ll pimp up the behavior of sidelinks a bit later on and maybe even add some variety to the background like some grunge elements (or stripes, lol) but that’s just minor details. Content plays the prime role and I’m sure it’s gonna be worth reading.

Like I said, I don’t play frequently but I’ve fallen in love with a great MMO that I’ve played for like 2 years already and I’d love to spread the word about it and contribute by writing a detailed review of at least this particular game later on. I’m sure many readers might come to love it just as I did.

Are you planning to write about more complex games that require more time for building characters etc. or just that kind of rest-break mini-games?

Either way, good luck to your next project and many happy readers just like here :)

The Giveawayoftheday currently have SnapLogger. This will allow you to record your screen as a movie. Will make it easier to post screenshots or short clips of the game you’re reviewing.

Also, would reviewing big mainstream games bring in more money? Although it will be a lot more competition and time spent in play/testing those games.

Congratulations! Nicely done. I’ll be coming back for more.

I did like your current reviews, but I don’t want to address your content, just the format.

Before I spend time reading any review, I like to know the basics of the application/game. If it doesn’t fit my system (or taste), I can skip reading the details and move on.

So, under the title of the article, I would like to see a subheading which lists particulars of the game, v.g., type (rpg, fps, etc.), single/mutiplayer, online/offline, platforms supported, size, memory/video requirements.

And, a comment on the site’s title graphic: I am happy with the artwork, but my immediate impression was, “This looks like Halloween.” I’d like to see a graphic that evokes something less specific. Perhaps a montage of elements from different types of games: an elf, a pistol, a tetris block, a deck of cards, a kungfu kicker, a puzzle piece… you get the idea.

Thanks.

I’d love it if you also had a great deal of emphasis on indi games that don’t get much coverage ie: ROM check fail

Some very good remarks so far. I will definitely add more game information to the articles, that’s a great idea.

Asher I surely will review a lot of independent games as well as online games.

Dante it probably would bring in more money and I could sell them via affiliate links on the blog but I prefer to do a good free games blog. So, free is the way to go. Not saying that I won’t review a commercial game every know and then though but I have to like it ;)

Asher says:

Also, will the new blog be part of Grand Effect?

Martin says:

Asher no it’s independently from the network .

The design is great, but I have a few comments.

The header is toooo big for people with a screen of 1280px - 768px.

The only thing which is visible then is the title and 3 sentences. That is really not enough. Especially not for the new visitors.
Because you have to convert them still into fans of the site.

Now the new visitors don’t immidiatly know what the topic is and where the topic is when they search for it via Google.

Also there is not enough visible from the menu.

Conclusion:
A to big header will hurt your number of visitors and the average time a visitor spend on you site.

Tip:
A big change that you already know this one but a good resource for free games is http://www.yoyogames.com/
