A visitor was asking me a while ago if there were really download managers for websites like Rapidshare and I simply told him at that time that they would exist. JDownloader is a Rapidshare Download Manager that comes with a lot of functions to make downloading files from Rapidshare and dozens other file hosting websites a breeze.

The download manager has several benefits over manually downloading files from Rapidshare. The first is that you can simply add as many download links to it which will all be stored and processed one after the other. The image verification is filled in automatically by JDownloader which means that you can keep it running in the background all the time without having to actively manage the downloads.

Download links can be automatically added by making Jdownloader observe the clipboard. It offers a reconnect feature which has to be configured, an unpacker, a password list, selecting a favored server from each hoster and much more. There are several options that need some explanation though before you can start using it.

You should first realize that JDownloader needs Java, so make sure that is installed. After unpacking the application you need to execute the file JDownloader.jar to start the installation where you select a download location for the files. Files will be automatically updated during the setup as well.

Before you start to begin downloading files you need to accept the Terms of Service for all file hosters that you want to download from. Open the options, click on Hosts in there and check the TOS of the file hosters.

The language can be set to German and English but even if you select English it looks like a mix of German and English. Not to hard to figure out stuff because the most important elements are well translated.

Please note that JDownloader, like many other applications with J in front, requires Java to be installed on your system. An alternative that does not require Java is MiPony.

Not only Rapidshare, actually JDownloader supports almost any kind of download hosts, heck, it can even be used to download videos directly from YouTube!

JDownloader isn’t as good as other download managers, if you have a paid account with one of those services. Simply because JDownload doesn’t support multiple connections to the same file, like all other manager do.

So the actual download speed is exactly the same as using your browser. In fact your browser will be quicker if you download the files you want at the same time, instead of waiting for jdownloader to process them one at a time.

So I don’t really see the benefit of using it.

Awesome app. It is hassle-free downloading. Im glad i found it, coz now I can simply copy links and sit back while it fills in captcha, downloads files, extracts them with the passord from the website…….do you know how often i download things with no password then have to delete them?? Now it simply save the pass as well and extracts the zip, rar or whatever.

As you can see I really like this app, thats coz its once ina while you get a good, free ap that does what it says

    Try it

JDownloader is simply the best d/l manager period! I love the constant additions of new d/l sites and one of the best features is keeping a list of Extraction Passwords! I have over 200 passwords in my JDownloader now that I have used in the past and it takes SECONDS to test all 200 passwords on the RAR files! Fan-frigging-tastic!

Thank you JDownloader team! Great s/w!!

It would be perfect downloader if only it worked. In my case it only shows tray icon and there is no menu or anything. That’s a know issue, but still unresolved :(

Best app Ive used in a long time.
-It collects all the links on a page from a url
-even picks up the password on the page if its there
-enters captcha if you dont have a premium account
-changes your ip if you dont want to wait
-has resume, if supported, scheduler …
-supports regular expressions, if you know what to do with them
-works on pretty much any hoster worth mentioning
    -ALL OF THIS FOR FREE

this software is totally cool and you do NOT need a premium account anywhere unless you have a fixed IP; the application includes an automatic reset of your firewall router connection so it can conveniently circumvent the waiting time. You can command-c links in the web browser and, if enabled clipboard monitoring, jdownloader will automatically read it and detect the links, even passwords, and unpacks the files when all parts are downloaded. if the I’ve been using it for almost a year now and for many various host services; except the annoying automatic updates and two occasions when the download queue disappeared (testing my backup facilities) i never had problems. I would NEVER pay any money to somebody who makes money by providing an option to circumvent copyrights, thats like paying bonus money to a pimp

Sounds very good program BUT where is it ?!!!! there is no link on this site which says go download it. Ok, I clicked on that JDownloader link and it took me to a apparently Brazilian site which doesn’t seem to have anything to do with softwares ! Am I blind or we are not meant to have this program ?!!! Sorry but this is very annoying. It is almost as annoying as rapidshare itself.

    cheers

This is hands down the best free rapidshare donwnloader out there. It supports premium accounts, and even if you don’t have one it works great. It can automatically reset your ip if it detects that rapidshare capped after a large download, thus eliminating any waits. Can’t describe just how convenient this thing is.

Simply put, if you use rapidshare, GET THIS IT’S FREE!
