There are lots of non-geek types that would never read a site like this one, that would go ga-ga over a $199 or a $219 iPhone.

Take off the geek glasses. :)

I think hackers will enable Internet in Nano version and then it will be usable. If I could choose I would take Nano anyway. I hate having a brick instead of small phone in my pocket.
And I wonder if smaller screen would make it work longer.

Removing the internet features is a mistake if you ask me. The number 1 reason why the iPhone was successful was due to the way it handled the internet. Does this also mean the wireless functions have also been removed?

It still does not support 3G and does it still support Edge?

Dudley says, January 2nd, 2008

Even on a 7″ Display(Eee PC) it ain’t the “real” Internet, like they try to tell you.

I’ll probably never get it, why the hell they highlighted that argument so much.

Not true.

If I’m gonna pay more than 100 dollars(usd) then it better have the internet and a 2MP camera on it.

WizzKid says, January 2nd, 2008

I picked up an iPod Touch, and its been amazing. I have always wanted an iPhone, so this might be what I am looking for - dont really need internet as I have my iPod Touch for that :)

I hate to break it to you, but how reliable is your source? Photoshopped: http://www.informationarchitects.jp/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/iphone_2.png ?

I don’t need internet on the go but i do love the idea of a “phone nano” so if it’s cheaper without internet it’s a pretty good deal compare to the rest of the phone models nowaday

Yes!!! I had the org. iPhone and I loved it but I didn’t use the internet and e-mail nearly enough to justify the very expensive bill. I gave it to my wife who uses that stuff all the time for her business. The pic above looks awesome, the fact that you will not have to pay for the insane data bill is awesome! I’d rather pay an extra $100.00 more for an iPhone nano with not data that can pick up Wi-Fi like the touch then have to deal with a 70.00 plus bill every month to use the internet/e-mail on the go. Can’t wait until October if that’s the date!!

Sinz says, July 12th, 2008

Firstly thats a scaled version of the original (photoshoped) and its also improbable as the home menu button wouldnt be smaller, because know first hand apples insistance that that particular button be finger/thumb tip sized, no smaller.

iC@NDY says, July 25th, 2008

I think the whole idea of inventing a smaller version of the iphone is a great idea!!!…..BUT, personally I don’t think that it will sell just because it doesn’t have the internet on it. And on top of that it doesn’t have alot of space to hold what you can put on the phone.

anon says, August 5th, 2008

there would be no reason for apple to take of the internet unless there was some reason… and i think the reason is because it’s going to be a pay as you go phone, so it’ll be more affordable and be opening up the iphone to more people.

i think it’s a good idea.

then more TEENS whose parent’s say they don’t need an iphone because it has the internet and they don’t need the internet would be able to get it.

which is my case.

that’d be really cool. especially since there’s a new iphone that’s like 200 bucks, the nano would probably be like 100.

good idea.

kai says, August 12th, 2008

yes, the size might be fine.
what no internet means. no wifi?
but you can still pay the EDGE to online, right?

Twerply says, August 13th, 2008

The Nano is a “beta” for some future development of the iPhone - call it the “Nano Plus” - which will have all the functionality of the Classic (plus any new features that may have been developed in the meantime) with the Nano size and (maybe) price tag.

Apple is releasing the thing in order to get consumer feedback and decide if people like the new smaller size. If they do, then the “Nano Plus” with Internet access will appear in a year or two.

I think it’s a great idea to remove internet. There are a lot of people that choose another phone over the iphone just because they don’t want the extra charge, but they would still like to have an apple branded music player and cell phone in one device. People that want internet can just go for the original iphone. Why do you think At&t even SELLS phones like the RAZR v9.

Angel says, August 27th, 2008

I don’t think they should remove internet. This is one of the things that makes the iPhone so great. I hope they also have email capabilities on it as well. Some of us prefer the larger capacity models for different reasons and professionally it makes sense for people who rarely have the time to sit at a computer. Smaller models should not offer anything less but the space. How people use the room it is entirely up to them. I think all applications should be open to it as well. I think a smaller version of the iPhone makes sense since I have been told by friends that they wish they had one but it’s just too costly.

On another note, parents I know tell me how their kids want iPhones. Why not make it easy on the parents’ budget, too? I say go for it and leave no feature behind! If the iPhones made such a big hit when they 1st came out, why wouldn’t the Nano phone do as well?

Angel says, August 27th, 2008

Oh did forget one thing. One should be allowed to block internet if they don’t use it just as you can do with any other phone that can use internet capabilities..

Marty says, August 29th, 2008

IT’S FAKE … notice the WIFI logo beside the AT&T…. was it not suppose to have internet ??? theres no icons for all the sofware for internet such as safari, maps, weather, stocks or youtube…. so … must be this picture fake

raider says, September 2nd, 2008

Maybe they removed the i-net because the keyboard was too small as it is. I don’t know how typing is possible on that size of screen. This is for the rich OC 10 year olds.
