Some people DO never learn. In fact, if I'm asked to "can you re-install my computer, it stopped working when I deleted files from my windows directory cuz I needed space", that's the only way to go. But take my parents for instance. No Porn, no Penis Enlargement, they're just a little slow catching up on the many ways Word uses to manage their inputs. I tell the folks who need help that if I touch their PC's, I'm going to LOCK IT DOWN. Meaning I'm the only one with the Administrator Password (in my PDA). No install privileges, no updates, nada. Just plain ole user. Hard for viruses to run when they don't have install rights. Than once a year, when I see them, I do an update. And if I see any kiddie porn on the harddrive, they go to jail.
