The best Software of 2007

Instead of just listing the software that I would pick as the best software of 2007 I thought it would be a nice addition if we would decided on it together. Everyone may participate and we count the votes at the end of this year and I create the list of the best software of 2007.

Only freeware and Open-source software is allowed. The software has to be freely available on the Internet and everyone may mention five different programs that he thinks deserve to be on the list. Each spot adds points to the program mentioned which are added at the end to determine the best.

The positions are important as well. First position on your list receives 5 points, the second 4 points and so on to the fifth who receives 1 point.

My top 5 looks like the following:

1. Xmplay
2. SMPlayer
3. True Crypt
4. Thunderbird
5. WinSCP

How does yours look like ?

By freeware, I presume you mean the license is free, not that it’s warez one can get free online (like Vista, Office 2007, etc) :)

    My vote would be:

    OpenOffice
    Firefox
    AndroidNews (free with nag)
    K-Lite Codecs
    AVG Anti-Virus.

  6. Dante says:

The best free software for non-daily use (second tier) would most likely be:

    Kismet
    Airsnort
    NetStumbler
    Cowpatty
    Ethereal

These come in handy when you need wi-fi access while on the road ;)

Since neither of my previous attempts got through, let’s try it without the links (sorry folks)…
