Mouser of Donation Coder was so nice to email me informing me about the results of a little coding challenge that they had in November. The Getting Organized 2007 Programming Challenge was to write a computer program (or web service) which helps people be more productive with their time that had not been published prior to November 2007.
The results are now in and I would like to take the opportunity to list all the tools of the challenge here at my website. Nine programs are listed on the Donation Coder homepage that in one way or another help users be more productive, they are:
Evaluweight: This software helps the decision making. You can weight products, services and everything else using categories that are weighted the way you want. An example would to to weight chocolate bars by size, price, taste, health and guilt.
Another One Done: A very simply program that helps you keep track of numerical goals.
How Long 2 It: Keeps track of how many days have past since a day or will pass since a day you specified arrives.
Timer Assist: This is an alarm timer that will play a wav at specified intervals like every 15 minutes for example.
SMAU - Simple Multi-Alarm Utility: Set alarms that remind you of a specific task schedule. The program allows you to create a simple Alarm within seconds, but still not much more is needed to create a more complicated Alarm, which will, for instance, remind you each Monday and Thursday afternoon to e-mail the work report to your project manager, by displaying a reminder and creating an empty message addressed to the person.
PlainTextWiki Toolkit: Brings Wiki functions to your text editor. The most important function is that you can include wiki links in your text file. When you move your cursor to that link and press a keyboard shortcut, that link will be opened in your editor.
CFD Button: Allows you to filter for additional file types in applications that only offer certain file filters. Will write about this later today.
MyHelp: Store information in categories in this little program. This way you will have your own help system, or a reminder or something like it.
JrHourlyMarker (for mirc and xchat): Adds hourly markers to Mirc and Xchat which make it easier to determine when something happened there.
