Absolute trash with out the Proxy support. I don't know why, but all the reviews across the internet say FZ 3 has Proxy support, but the author says he won't be bringing it back. Quite a shame, FZ 2 became a near defacto standard for proxied enterprise sites.

2.2.32 is available here http://downloads.sourceforge.net/filezilla/FileZilla_2_2_32_setup.exe?modtime=1176722118&big_mirror=0

Author refuses proxies here http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=15273

Thanks for the info, Kaixi Luo! :) For tab support, if you mean the tabs at the top for each different FTP account, then that's definitely a must-must for me!

Speaking from experience, Filezilla seems to be faster and more lightweight than smartftp but I'm not sure wich is more stable. By the way, smartftp supports tabs, whereas Filezilla doesn't.

Just wondering what the memory usage is like? I'm a permanent user of SmartFTP but sometimes feel it is a little beast ;) Thanks!

I'm loving filezilla since I discovered it. I was kind of thinking of trying fire ftp but I have been trying to use less extensions. But really, besides IE, what other choices do you have???

Filezilla 3 isn't 100% stable. It failed to upload some files to my server while Filezilla 2 had no problems.

I've been using RC3 for a while now and haven't spotted any problems as such.

Importing of the 2.x series Site Manager bookmarks happened without a hitch. However - the feature that I miss most in this is EDIT. There's no right-click context-menu EDIT function for the file lists. With FZ 2.x if you needed to quickly fix some config file on your server, all you had to do was right-click > Edit on it and it got auto-downloaded and opened in your chosen editor. Once done with the editing it once again got re-uploaded to the server. A rather seamless and painless process. Not so with version 3 as yet.

Another major annoyance is that the drive / folder / file display panes in both remote and local view DO NOT REMEMBER their dimensions... i.e., if you adjust them to your liking once you close FZ, the settings are gone and they once again assume the default dimensions.

Last but not the least - it gets disconnected from the server after a but of idle time. FZ 2.x used to keep sending FEAT and a bunch of other useless commands at regular intervals to keep the connection alive.

Maybe by the time they've the final public release out, they'll fix these issue.

The best thing about filezilla3 is it has been written in wxWidgets. So it will work on ALL platforms (practically).

Also, there is NO GUI ftp client in linux that works from behind HTTP Proxy. Zilch! None!

Maybe filezilla3 will fix that ..

I also use FileZilla almost daily, haven't had look at version 3 yet though, as not sure how stable it is yet. Maybe I should to check if my password recovery app (demp.se/y/2007/06/28/very-early-release-password-monkey) still works.
