Owning a google domain became true for a German who decided to request a push of the google.de domain to his own account at the webhoster Goneo. According to the IT-magazine heise.de a user of Goneo ordered a domain push of the domain google.de and a script at Goneo automatically submitted the request right to the German central domain registrar Denic without manual checking of the claims.
The Denic then used the data that was provided by google to contact the company and ask if the push was a rightful one. Google failed to reply to this request in the given period which the Denic automatically took this as an ACK (acknowledgment) for the push which meant that someone else was owning google.de at that time. The domain was pushed back to the rightful owner after 13 hours of different ownership. I personally think that it is really funny how easy this looks like. Not sure about the consequences for the person who ordered the push but they could be severe. The German webhoster Goneo promised to check all push requests manually from now on.

Why is Google.com redirecting me to another Google domain ?
