TVU Player 2.3 out

TVU Networks have quietly released a new version of their acclaimed TVU Player which makes it possible to watch many popular tv stations from the internet. You can watch channels such as ESPN, ESPN2, FOX, NBC, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central using TVU Player. It does not deliver the same experience than watching the shows on a big tv though. Due to limited bandwidth the channels look fine if you keep the output window small, if you go fullscreen it becomes pretty blurry.

I can’t see many changes in this version. TVU Networks are unfortunately not publishing release notes so I have to compare the old and new version by myself. The only change that I was able to find is a link to the program of that network that you could click on. Some stations are not there for the moment, I’m missing ABC for instance.

If you run into errors with TVU Player you should take a look at my tvu player faq which addresses some of the most common problems that are encountered. Please note that you do need a broadband connection for most channels, only the channels marked with low could probably be viewed without one.

Has anyone been getting the message : ‘the tvu player has encountered a problem and must close. Sorry for the inconvenience’???
Im wondering if it’s a problem with their server–and if not, if there is any known way to fix it.
    thnx!!

  2. Tobey says:

Just dugg this player yesterday, it’s a nice app. Most of the channels are crap but I like that I can watch Nickelodeon, CBS, AXN etc in english, that’s great. Quality differs from channel to channel. But I appreciate it.

  3. JoePiscopo says:

spicypeaches… yeah I’ve had the same trouble, not sure why it is, I just reload it, and usually works, sometime need to do it 2 or 3 times…

  4. Eazy says:

when i try to install version 2.3 it comes up saying
    The activex.dll is in use
it is strongly recomended that you closes all other applications you have running before continuing. This will help prevent any conflicts during the installation process.

I have exited every thing exept the installer but it still comes up and wont install.
    WHAT DO I DO???

  5. Martin says:

never heard of that error eazy, did you try and restart your computer ?

I just had the same problem, can anyone help me?

  7. activex.dll says:

I had the same error. I tried installing in safemode and it still says activex.dll is running and it wont install

    anyone have any ideas?

  8. sunseeker says:

I had the activex error. Tore my hair out closing EVERY thing, shutting down services, and still no luck.

Then I saw another website that recommended uninstalling the old one. That worked for me!

  9. EgCorps. says:

How is it some channels are missing?
    Such as disney HBO Etc.

  10. mzin says:

I can’t see any channels in the list box. Anyone knows why ?

  11. jt says:

Currently when i open the TVU player there are no channels listed at all before all the channels were on the listed but now its empty including my favorites. also the TVU website doesn’t seem to load anybody know whats going on?

  12. Sandinista says:

It seems that TVU is down. As I found this is not the first time. We do broadcast with two channels in test via TVU networks (As.IPRedes Promo & As.IPRedes Live TV) and cannot upload either…!
As it seems the alternatives Sopcast and TVAnts have the same problem… Overload by hacking activities? Would be a pity if our scriptkiddies fowl-up these great services…
Let’s hope things work out soon!

Just recently there was an earthquake off the coast of Taiwan, and according to this BBC news report: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6211451.stm, communications between Southeast Asia and the rest of the world has been seriously damaged and could take weeks to repair.

I just tried going to TVUplayer and SOPcast homepages and it did not work too well.

It seems that there might be some issue in broadcasting this weekend since both TVUplayer and SOPcast require their Chinese servers to opperate properly.

  14. ja says:

hey what happend to disney cannel

  15. EgCorps says:

Yeah, why are some channels missing?
Is thier a way to add them?
I’ve notice it doesn’t go pass 50000 In the list.
I also notice some new channels gets removed once they added them.

  16. Levente says:

Anybody knows how can I watch NBC on TVU? It is not in the list of channels.

  17. Johnny says:

I just found out about this program and downloaded it a couple of days ago. I seem to be having the same problem as many others. I get an error message when I click on it, but it appears to install the program. However no channels are shown in the listing guide–ever. I’ve never seen a single thing on it.
    Any ideas how to correct?

  18. gary says:
