Almost half of the users (48%) voted yes on the poll that asked if they would like to have a forum at ghacks while 30% said they did not care and 22% decided that they did not want to see a forum here at my site. I will create a forum because the majority decided that way. I would like to ask you what you would like to see in the new forum, which kind of boards for instance.
I did a quick brainstorming and came up with those:
- Ghacks Support – Help related to articles and other difficulties at ghacks.net
- Suggestions – How can I improve ghacks
- Tech Help – You have a general problem and need help ?
This should not be all of course, so please let me know what you like to see and I quickly add the boards to the forum.
This weeks poll is perfect for Monday mornings, which day of the week do you hate the most ? Make your vote count by voting in the right sidebar. I have a strange feeling that I know which one will make it.. What do you think ?

Perhaps people who are likely to respond to a poll like it, but not people who are looking for good/digestable content
why not both?
the forum is likely to attract more hits to Martins site than just his content alone would bring in the pages as it would no doubt become a huge resource and a friendly forum to contribute to. I say, GO FORUM!!!! W000T0R0R0T0TTTTRRRR

I think a forum is cool as long as it is not censored, i.e. no moderator’s gonna come and say “banned couse this issue is gonna make MS go after our heads”.
You need to add a RSS feed for new stuff posted… so We can add ghacks to google…
I agree with the others, you don’t need a forum.
Readers can discuss a topic on the comments.
But if you are going to set one up use SMF.
i think you should make a forum, and just see who registers. I bet those who say “no dont make a forum” will be the first to sign up to the forum!

ok, I voted against a forum because I find many of them to be a burden to follow, and end up being low on the information-to-chitchat scale. I think spending more time making your main page (blog) top-notch would be more rewarding in the end, and more useful to the common ghacks visitors.
However, if you really want a forum, here’s my little suggestions:
a) a part ghacks centered: problems (?), articles suggestions, questions, new features suggestion/discussion. A place where you “rule” (sorry, I don’t find another word)
b) a part computer-problem centered: place where people can submit their problems and solutions. Users can probably ask/answer themselves, so it’d be more a free forum than a place where you are the boss.
c) a general technology section, where people talk freely, where you can find/steal new ideas for the posts (if you need them).
d) a small chit-chat/general discussion area. SMALL. Those can quickly kill a forum.
Try to make the whole thing small enough, focussed on ghacks, and moderate it. Keep it small so people won’t start to live there – you are to be the only resident. Keep it focussed so it doesn’t become bloated with useless chatter and easy to maintain (avatars, sigs, “me too” posts, big pictures – muhc bandwidth for not much). Keep it moderated so feelings don’t get hurt and trolls are kept away. Every message board needs to be kept clean of trolls and other evil clowns. Make it like ghacks is now: clean, simple, polite and quick to read. For all the rest, people can find a home elsewhere. There is no need for another slashdot, or SA…

Буду на следующей неделе в столице, может быть кто-нибудь даст совет где возможно инфу посмотреть про досуг в столице. Быть может кто пользовался уже каким-либодосугом, хочется в хорошее заведение прийти, отдохнуть так сказать по полной. Интересуют различные развлечения и моральные ну и физические тоже. А то просто не охота потом быть огорченным, если не оправдает отдых моих надежд.
