The windows tuning freeware Fresh UI has been released in a new version and I thought this would be a good moment to write an article about the software. You can customize and tweak your windows operating system with fresh ui, every windows system since 95 is supported. You find six categories on the left side at the start of the program which expand in subcategories when you click on them.
The applications category controls settings for default windows applications like internet explorer, windows messenger and notepad. You may change the maximum number of simultaneous connections for the internet explorer or completely disable windows messenger. You may change drive, folder, files and search settings in the explorer category. It allows you to hide or disable drives for example.
The hardware category contains some options to change hardware settings for various hardware devices like the keyboard, the mouse or the cd drive. You can for instance disable the windows key or disable the build in burning capability of windows xp.
The tool has three more categories, windows interface, windows system and cover your tracks which hold additional useful settings. I don´t want to go into detail, there are simply to many options. To list some of the better known ones:
- enable udma 66 support
- enable / disable auto reboot on crash
- disable user profiles
- disable password caching in internet explorer
- disable password caching in windows
- empty temporary internet files on exit
To sum everything up: Fresh UI is great because it is freeware, relatively small and offers a wide area of settings for every windows operating system.
