Little TVU Player FAQ List

tvuplayer worked very well for me intitially but now i’m getting an error:

“The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022). Click on OK to terminate the application.”

I’ve rebooted, reinstalled, googled and changed permissions on some dlls but can’t seem to find a fix. Maybe this is a more general windows issue but I can’t find a fix. Any ideas?

Download the Microsoft .NET Framework (again) and install it.

oh. i figured it out. spyware can pick up TVU Player because of the open remote connection. changing the name of the exe or adding it to a list of allowed programs will fix the issue.

tvuplayer will no longer connect to tvu network - log file says “Peer sc can not be initialized.”

tvu player will no longer connect to tvu network, is that on my end or are other people having this problem now?

Likewise, this was working fine this morning for the 1st half of the Arg match. Was just trying to reconnect, but am getting the same “Player cannot be initialized, please check the network connection.”

Looks like it’s everyone. I thought my work closed the port (can’t imagine the bandwidth this thing is sucking up), but then I Terminal Serviced into my home PC and it’s not working there either. My guess is their servers can’t handle the insane amount of bandwidth being asked of it. The entirety of PwC Mexico has this thing installed on their desktop to watch the cup …

http://www.tvants.com, its mostly chinese channels, but it works.. I dont think its nearly as good as TVU Player, but its something.

We’re all having the same problem here in Hong Kong, despite the mega bandwidths available here. We’ll just have to wait until they sort the problem out. Oh well, another excuse to go to the pub!

Same problem here in Atlanta, GA. Stopped working right at halftime. Thought my office might have shut it down, but it does not work at home either. Must be their issue.

This is a disaster, i’ve been waiting all morning for the Netherlands game and the player disconnected during the second half of the Argentina game. Hopefully they fix this soon, The netherlands game isnt being broadcasted here in Canada…:(

This is ridiculous, i can’t understand a thing these guys are saying, but i guess it’s better then nothing.

tvants is working great, although it’s not as simple of a program as TVU.

does any know for sure if tvants has ESPN2 ? of course it’s easy to find regular old ESPN, but ESPN@ is a whole different matter…

You can watch using tvants (mute it) and then listen with http://clients.mediaondemand.net/theSun/?Channel=1

The only issue is that the audio commentary is ahead of the video … by about 30 of 40 seconds

actually i’m wrong - it’s more like 2 minutes ahead of the video … so one or the other

I think the game’s on ESPN2. Anyone know the TVAnts tracker for that one?

Not working in UK too. BBC doesn’t recognise my IP address as UK-based, and I have relied on TVU Player to get my World Cup fix. As far as I know, it’s not working in Malaysia either.

As for those who can’t get TVAnts to stream properly, find a channel which has lower bitrate. It should solve the problem.

I cannot connect to CCTV5 or any channel on TV Ants. I use a proxy server at work. Can someone send me the Advanced Options / Settings for tvant.

CAN SOMEONE who has TVANTS working send out the server they are using and also any other PROXY SERVER settings

You do have to have a proxy server enabled. I only had to put a check in that box. Go to Tools–>Setttings–>Proxy.

I have a program called Sopcast…although seems it’s also having issues as I haven’t been able to connect today. Maybe others will have better luck.

I heard TVU got attacked today, and that’s why it’s down. There’s also a rumor that they’ve gone to PPV.

No need to modify the sitting , the problem is happening with user from all over the world. We just have to wait and keep trying , if doesn’t get resolved by tomorrow then I think this site go busted and maybe shutdown already which I hope not.

Sopcast was down earlier but it’s working again now. There appear to be considerable efforts going on to stop Internet TV World Cup coverage, presumably directed by those who hold the broadcast rights (isn’t Yahoo the ultimate owner of them?). A Spanish site called TVfutbol (I live in Barcelona) giving links for seeing matches was apparently closed down earlier this week. The only thing to do seems to be to have as many TV player programs as possible and switch between them. I saw Holland v Ivory Coast in TVAnts, for example. Now I’m going back to Sopcast for the last match because I think the quality’s a bit better.

Went down at Arg-S+M half time, checked viidoo site and in the shoutbox people talking about a denial of service attack. Then that site went down. tvants is a reasonable alternative, I have not been able to get pplive or ppstream running here in Dubai.

Now how do you get decent commentary… you can try BBC Radio 5 Live, however you need to configure your real player with an open UK proxy with port 80. Here is the link that needs to load in the real player: rtsp://rmlivev8acl.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/radio5/live/r5_tl_g2.ra

The nice thing about this is that you can match the commentary with the game on CCTV1/5. I have to say its more informed than ESPN2 American commentary who havn’t got a clue.

If you click on the channel univision you see a message stating “in service returning in 30 minutes”
not sure if they mean the channel or the whole player..

lots of comments btw, was moderating the whole time and could not do much else ^^

yeah the CCTV-5 is the only one that works on TVUplayer, but I’ll take what I can get at this point!

I’ve been using TVU player since the start of the world cup. While i was watching, the player suddenly closed on me. Everytime i try to open it up now it gives me an error message:

TVUplayer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close

I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times but still get the same error messages. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

To all world cup fans for whom TVU player is not working, ESPN 360 broadcasts the games and this article reports how to bypass the ISP network that is required to run the program. I live in USA and am watching the Portugal - Mexico match live with great connection

They took espn2 away……is not in my list anymore, I wanted to watch wimbledon :). ESPN is working ok, sometimes I have to use Univision.

I have it working…kind of. When the picture uploads it stretches the width of my monitor but only the height of the small box - ie. looks like a bizarre vrsion of wide-screen tv. If i double click on it, it fills the entire screnn and is clear and i can see it, however i really want to watch it in the small box as i need to at least pretend that i’m working while i’m watching football! Thanks for any suggestions.

espn360 only works for certain isp’s. until july 19 it’s free for anyone. because live events are broadcast using windows media player, you can right click and check the properties of the video. that’s where i got the link. i’ve found it works much better to use the link rather than the 360 application.

it’ll probably be more reliable for world cup games (for people in the u.s.) than tvu. they just started the free trial this week.

the other problem with it is that the link changes with each game, so you have to go to the application each time.

sorry that i don’t have another workaround for people outside of the u.s. i didn’t know if it would work internationally or not.

well, the channel lists’ back, tvu player can be very unstable at times..

I am ver frustrated right about now! I just got TVU yesterday, and caught the Italinas beating down on the Germans in Dortmund!! Today I am hoping to get France and Portugal but TVU will not initialize. The sopcast site is not working, pplive cannot download…. i will try tvants and see…

My TVU Player has a bad signal and keeps on freezing, but a week ago the signal was good and the channel didn’t freeze that much. Please tell me whats the problem

Hi I downloaded the program, I get the stations on the left hand side of the player but none play. Do I need to do something to activate the player? thanks

The TVU player seems to have problems from time to time caused by not enough people viewing a certain channel. It could also cause problems if your bandwidth is not that high to display the contents and the audio.

Mario you do not have to register the player, just click a channel and wait until it connects. This takes usually some seconds and a few minutes to pick up enough IPs that stream the content.

A user of the TVU forum is reporting that he had no channel list because of missing files. He downloaded the missing files from a different source and added them to his tvu player directory and was able to see the channel list afterwards.

Very good program, best I have ever come across apart from:
On my PC the video output color is very blue, is this normal or is it my PC with the problem

I had the same problem and I had to use the older version 1.5.12. The older version says it’s connecting and buffering, then it plays.

i don’t know much about this player, but it sounds like you need to install VLC Media Player or your firewall is stopping it!

my tvu was working but now when i click on a channel it say connecting and then says “closed” - am i a computer retard or is there actually something wrong- i just want to watch my morning cartoons!

Have you tried looking at the homepage viidoo.com and seeing if it works through that?

I had the old tvuplayer and just got the new one but I still get the same problem.

Everthing opens fine, it says ready, but there is no signal. Also when i double click on a channel it says connecting and then says closed after a minute. Can someone help me please

Hi I’ve been having problems trying to play the channels in my tvu but not of the channels will work when i click on it. but my tvants program works fine. What can i do about the tvu program, how to get it to work,already been reinstalled twice?

I have a weird problem..I can connect to the channels and the quality is fine, the sound works, but the picture is all weird..it’s green and blue and pink..like I’m missing a codec. I have ffdshow..tsunami codec pack, xvid, divx..
the same with sopcast..

In Japan, I cannot access TVU at all now. It used to load up ok, but I made the silly mistake of installing the update. BIG MISTAKE. Nothing worked so I unistalled it and reinstalled the old version (still available to download at their site).

Now, when i load up TVU, the message from themasking me to upload appears,then the programme screen and then it suddenly vanishes plus the toolbar icon also disappears!

Seems like TVU is dead now. Scifi and Comedy Central havent ever loaded up in a very, very long time. Ho hum…
