what if you are at work and can’t download anyhting to your workstation?

Martin says, June 9th, 2006

If you are from Britain you could view the games from the BBCs webpage. Maybe a media company is offering the same if you are living in a different country.

If not you could try and find a proxy that is located in Britain to view the live stream there.

There are also lots of live tickers out there that give you information about standings and events.

Alex says, June 9th, 2006

I cant find CCTV1, CCTV5 or Shangahi with this program!

Martin says, June 9th, 2006

Click the play tab in pplive. On the right side of the tv window is the channel list. You see lots of entries starting with [+] II. Click on the first plus and you see CCTV-5 which is one of the stations that shows the live games.

If you move your mouse over a channel you see a preview image and a time table what they are showing.

Alex says, June 9th, 2006

I clikced on the first [+} and the second {+] neither of them show CCTV5

Al says, June 9th, 2006

The worldcup (looking at previews) seems to be bogged down. :(

Martin says, June 9th, 2006

That is strange, look through all of them, it probably is somewhere else in your setup..

the football channes are either overloaded and thus not showing or they have been taken offline.. not sure what it is.

btw germany is leading 1:0. Lahm scored a goal in the 6th minute.

Martin says, June 9th, 2006

What a great game, it´s 2:1 for Germany after 16 minutes :P

Julian says, June 9th, 2006

It streams CCTV5 as well, so if ESPN2 is not showing a match cctv5 will. (with chinese commentary)

I can’t believe it. TUVplayer works INCREDIBLY WELL!@!! OMG OMG OMG. I have been so stressed out for the last week because I haven’t been able to find any way of watching the world cup, and my only option was to download via .torrent, but it would be like a day late etc etc. You have NO idea how happy I am at the moment!! Streams perfectly….looks like it uses the VLC code? Why is this programe not promoted more??!

David says, June 10th, 2006

i experience the same problem with Mark and Rob. i’m using IE 6. does it need to use Firefox? help!! today is England vs Paraguay, i should catch the match. Thanks a lot!

Rob says, June 10th, 2006

Guys I managed to sort out the download in the end but I bit the bullet and got the premium membership for a month on the website. After that no trouble in downloading.

Only one problem now the buffering goes up to about 90% on ESPN 2 and then comes all the way back down again resulting in break up of the channel.

Rob says, June 10th, 2006

Just a quick question on the channel list I can actually get ABC/ESPN2 (low) to work but is showing ABC at the moment. Will it change accross to ESPN 2 eventually when the world cup matches start ?

Martin says, June 10th, 2006

use the following alternative download locations:

http://www.badongo.com/file/838417

http://rapidsharing.com/download.php?id=88C9A282

Rob the program is likely to change, if not you still have the option to view CCTV5 which streams all matches live.

I have seen the 2 opening matches on Colombia.Tv wich streams on a lower 102kb/s… not the best quality, but streams flawless (then just find a radio station that broadcasts the game in ur language).
To see colombia.Tv download “mediacenter 4.0″ from http://www.coolstreaming.us/ its italian but who cares, there’s a 2000+ free channels to chose from.
Also if someone knows of a channel that streams on even lower kb/s…like 35-44kb/s? as that would even work on dial-up connections…cheers from the Philippines.

66: Rob I don´t know why this is happening to you. Did you check the error log ? do you get an error message at all ?
70: there is no configuration file, just start, wait a few seconds and you should see the channel list. If not you should check your firewall, maybe it blocks communication somehow.

Martin says, June 13th, 2006

the company who is releasing the tvuplayer is unfortunatly releasing little information about requirements and restrictions of the player.

system requirements are only:
Windows 2000 or XP
Broadband Internet connection, such as DSL or cable modem

I currently don´t know why the channel list is not appearing for some people. I also don´t know why the video is not showing / out of sync for some.

The latter could be coded related but I don´t know which codecs are required for the software.

It looks like a good software but it doesn’t work if you are behind a proxy!! so I am seeing nothg, but totally understand it.

The software doesn’t have preferences, so I can’t change the port. I am surprised how this could work in China.

If anybody has an idea how to change port please let us know.

[...] I was looking for a way to watch the Word Cup in Germany on my Mac while I’m at work, so I don’t have to take these long lunch breaks all the time… if you live in the UK, you can just watch the games on BBC… but I don’t… so, I stumbled upon this post. Thanks to my new MacBook, running Windows XP in Parallels, I can now stream every game live! Follow the download link and select ESPN2… voila…! [...]

Just to let you guys know…

I finally got it to work, and it is really great. I had to install it as an administrator, altho all seemed to go well as a user. When I logged in as a user, the app was not present in START. So I installed it again as a user, and THEN it would start.
Wierd.

hi all - i happily watched the first half of argentina-serbia/montenegro, but the screen suddenly went blank and now i can’t get it back. this is probably a dumb question, but is this likely related to traffic on the site? now when i try to initialize, it says it can’t get connected to the tvu network…
player cannot get initialized. any help would be much appreciated!! thanks!

Monty says, June 16th, 2006

Xisor says, June 16th, 2006

search for TVAnts(another one like TVUPlayer) - try to find CCTV 5 and watch your game

Martin says, June 16th, 2006

It seems TVU has some problems, not sure what it is though. If the messages from the chat are reliabel (which is unlikely) they have been under DOS attack today.

Solution, just wait and try again later.

Martin says, June 16th, 2006

Alfi the chat takes place at viidoo.com

I think TVUPlayer support is currently fixing this, I know there are many fake messages floating around currently.

Just wait and see if TVU player support fixes the problem.

seemed to good to be true…

Did they have problems with fifa because of transmission rights?

Steve says, June 16th, 2006

Did they have problems with fifa because of transmission rights?

I doubt thats the issue since they could have just removed the espn/abc channels from their server rather than shutdown the whole service.

Adrian says, June 16th, 2006

sh..t, the game has started and the thing is still down. I have another software which was working until tomorrow its SOPCAST …now all of a suddent its also not able to connect. Something’s smelling fishy here…

Looks like we’re currently being blocked in Shanghai, close to the TVU network. When you start TVUplayer, it connects via HTTP to http://www.tvunetworks.com (resolves to 211.152.32.134) and then on UDP port >3900 to na1.tvunetworks.com (211.152.32.132). When connecting to the 2nd server, network trace shows ICMP type 3, code 10 being sent back (Host administratively prohibited), most likely due to an access list on a router.

Both of these IPs belong to 21vianet:

inetnum: 211.152.32.0 - 211.152.63.255

traceroute to 211.152.32.134 shows we’re blocked just after hop 211.152.63.142, which also belongs to 21vianet (close to the destination):

I was able to watch every game on http://livefooty.doctor-serv.com/ but ut seems the site is down. I am now using the TVants software and connecting to CCTV5 - its a good pictue although there is a few minutes delay so you cannot listen to the sun commentary at the same time

Alex says, June 16th, 2006

Hopefully this problem we’re getting from TVU is just temporary. The problem we’re getting now with TVU was already reported before in posts 20, 29, 108, 117, 127, etc. These were reported before yesterday when there were no problems so hopefully TVU will return in a while?

If it doesn’t then I bet FIFA has something to do with all this. Probably those rumors about hackers doing a DOS Attack might in fact be the police bringing the network down.
Any1 knows if PPlive still works? Or where can I download TVants?

and “player cannot be intialized, please restart it!” which I have… many times over and still no luck.
I’ve also tried PPLive which seems to be an even bigger disaster than TVU. Stuck at work… do not want to miss the games, please help!

on the second link, scroll to bottom and click ‘TV channels translated to english’ then at the top click the weird looking button with the sound icon(and some foreign character, for i don’t speak anything but english) and it will load.

what you can do is mute it on TV ants and listen to that first link i gave you.(where it says ‘CLICK HERE on the web page)

Sopcast is really much better.
I watched almost every game with sopcast at our offices so far and zero problems.

Maybe every 70 minutes the usual buffer problems
or sometimes you have to close some other programs,
depending on your work environment and process memory.

Watching Soccer in chinese is cool, i only wish they had the “Zuiikin English” chicks during the commercials :)

SoccaNYC says, June 16th, 2006

Sorry, i forgot the URL is either sopcast.org or sopcast.com
You need much patience during installation.
Always log in anonynmous and double-double click for connections in the channels. Some buddies of mine, where i forwarded the program found oddly also the brazil soccer channel, which i never saw in my list.

Maybe i installed also some older versions in between… CCTV5 is fine enough though…
