It seems Google released another beta program to the public, this time its Google catalogs. You can now search through mail order catalogs. Apparently Google scanned the whole content of hundreds of those catalogs and made every word on every page searchable.
With every search you perform a catalog code and the phone number from the mail order is displayed, so you can easily order or ask questions this way.
Google Catalogs – Looking it up
Originally produced by Google in August 2011, Google Catalogs is a shopping application intended for tablet computers. You get virtual catalogs for your Android and iPad devices, allowing you access to various merchants like Nordstrom, Macy’s, L.L. Bean and all of the popular retail catalogs available online. Originally a beta program, it now seems to have fleshed out to a full program that has received widespread, active use among users of portable devices all over the world.
Google has scanned the entirety of catalog content (code) and any search word you can come up with is easily found on any page of the catalog you are on. As a useful feature, all searches performed yield a catalog code and phone number for the mail-order options displayed. You can find everything you want for yourself and for others in the holiday season or use this practical application for birthdays and other special events. Finding the things you are looking for has never been easier, and that is what Google does best. Make contact with the vendors and feel free to ask all the questions you like and get price comparisons at a touch.
For a little bit of history behind the Google Catalog idea, Google first conceived this idea in 2001 as a web search function. This turned out to become a major project for the minds at Google, as numerous merchant catalogs were scanned and integrated for public access. Naturally, demand grew rapidly. Now you have catalogs on this application that are divided by different product categories. This enables you to cross-reference several different catalogs simultaneously for anything from the latest men’s fashions to technological devices coming up on the market today and in the near future.
As tablet users and iPad users will want, this information can be easily find a page on any catalog or selection of catalogs and send information about products to friends. Tweet it, post it on Facebook or just email it, whatever you see fit. Play the “can you find a better deal?” game and reap the benefits of social networking to the fullest. The application is available for download to mobile devices only at this time. This makes complete sense, considering that shoppers will be on the go as they are looking for the best of the best at competitive prices while browsing selections. From a home computer, this is not so much of an advantage because you can use ordinary searches and quickly come up with the same information.
The Google Catalog application includes the “Find Nearby” option that leads you to specific locations and will give you the map you need to get there and start buying. There is no longer the need to go prancing about the malls trying to find what you are looking for. Sit down in the middle of the mall with your Tablet or iPad and narrow down you search, saving time and money in the long run. Everything you are looking for is just a touch away.
