Opera 9 Technological Preview 1

Opera 9 is still at an early stage of development, still the developers are releasing a first preview version of the upcoming Internet Explorer and Firefox Competitor Opera. The new browser will introduce new features like support for XSLT, Canvas 2D, and Web Forms 2.0 and site specific preferences.

The latest official version of the Opera web browser is Opera 11.60 which can be downloaded from the homepage. The browser is available for all supported operating systems, which at the time of writing are Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh and Unix systems.

Opera, besides those stable browser downloads, is publishing download links to snapshot versions of the browser on a regular basis.

Snapshot builds are development builds that often contain features that Opera intents to built into future versions of the browser.

While it is possible to download those builds which are made available more frequently than stable builds, it needs to be noted that those builds are not aimed for productive environments. Development builds have the tendency to contain bugs, and while those are usually fixed in a rapid pace, it can make the browser or part of its functionality inoperable at times.

Opera snapshot builds can be seen as technological previews of the browser. They are usually made available for all supported operating systems.

The latest snapshot builds are always posted on the Opera Desktop Team web blog. There you find download links as well as information about features and bug fixes of the releases.
